Yup, Marin and Polygon owned by the same parent co (Widjaja family out of Indonesia). I imagine that Minestone was probably just an investment vehicle to assist the purchase of Marin back in 2012:
In real terms, there can't be many brands/organisations with the budget to replicate the Atherton deal, so it **could** make sense they go to a new cash backed Marin setup. The only other brand based in Birmingham (seeing Rachel's IG posts) is Wiggle/CRC and we know there's a prototype Nukeproof Pulse out there that Sam won Garbanzo on, but do the numbers stack up for them?
The mos interesting thing in the answers is that Sven knows of another Honda's location!!
How much of the Honda hype is the brand and the professionalism around the whole operation back in the day? I mean the bike might have been really good back in the day, but the technology has moved so far forward it's ridiculous.

Must find and dissect that Honda! The general tech may be better, but nobody has been able to actually do what Honda claims that theirs could do.
As an aside. Perhaps the pinnacle of my mechanic career was getting an interview with Martin Whitely inside the first layer of the Honda pits. Didn't get the job, thus the downside from the pinnacle.
Just to bring it back to rumors... So do we know if that was Gwin's truck and Tazer? The whole Buy in theory that got poo pooed early on really seems more and more likely. Gwin loves where they are. It's an American company open to new ideas... I mean, he's already pretty set up. Why not use the rest of his riding career building up a company that he can call his own?

That Raptor is not Gwin's. it belongs to ASV Raptor. It is a company that specializes in aftermarket upgrades.
However, the Steber family keeps dropping hints. This is from Jenn Gabrielli' Instagram. She is Jeff's wife and Intense's head of Marketing.
What if the Raptor is the big hint and not so much the bike? Ford has gifted a few riders some Raptors. Gwin and Hart that I know of. What if this is the rebirth of automotive team sized sponsorships? Gwintense Raptor/TRPOnza?
That taser didn’t have onza tires. He’s tight with EC, so maybe he’s buying into a partnership with hyper. His mentor Tomes did that in the twilight of his career with Doug Bradbury. Although they’re about the slowest to get a bike to market in recent memory

pretty sure EC was involved in the building of the trails all these pros keep riding down by Intense, Gwin, and some of these pros homes. Could be a reason the two were seen in the same area.
They´ve dropped athletes before. Tanner Hall in skiing for example.
If the Intense rumours are true, i can definitely see a big automotive sponsor stepping up...

And Pastrana 'gave up' on them to ride a Nitro Circus helmet. It was quite a high profile 'sad to see him go' thing.
EDIT: wat is the thing that gave Honda the supposed edge? The gearbox?

Couple things Mr Nelson...
Atherton deal is really not much - 3/4 season ago, maybe. Since then, their worth has fallen off of a cliff. I would say as a team they are not even top 4 anymore in terms of budget for a Bike Brand.
Second, Wiggle/CRC is not based in Birmingham. They have a warehouse in Wolverhampton, with a head office in Portsmouth and two separate locations from the original CRC setup in Northern Ireland.

I'd say Athertons are worth more that they might be paid in terms of input they can provide with their experience to the research and development of new bikes.
This is also not necessary how world works
Past year might not have been most succesful for Gee but on the last few races it was pretty obvious he still has the speed.
And dont forget that Rachel is female GOAT by far. ACH won more championships but in all other stats Rachel wont be beaten for a long time, considering she is still on top of her game.
Annika Langvad Will be staying with SFR for 2019 along with doing select road events with Boels Dolmanns.
Confirmed Specialized factory Racing team so far-
Sam Gaze (NZL)
Christopher Blevins (USA)
Annika Langvad (NED)

I have a hard time seeing an automotive company stepping in, well Ford (Raptor) at least. World Rally has a very large following worldwide and Ford just lost Seb Ogier to Citroen because Ford wouldn't pony up a few million to match the Citroen offer, and that's auto racing... I have a hard time seeing them paying a mountain biker, granted it would be for quite a bit less money, but still.

Wild guess here but Toyota? They have their name plastered in just about every other sport.
The Athertons have been dropped by hope for unprofessional behaviour.
Turns out it is not a good idea calling in sick for a meet the pros day organised by hope, which at least one of athertons was contractually obliged to attend. Only to then be seen on Instagram the very same day riding in wales.
Renthal are only interested in Kade, the marketing manager is a friend of Kade's dad the former mbuk pinner Tom Edwards

In other news, Gee Atherton isn't tagging red bull in any of his posts. He is even covering up part of the logo on his helmets.
