A lot of people on this forum have very solid skillsets and are prime candidates for under-biking. Under biking requires maxing skills to increase capability, which can make trails more spicy (fun to me), and lower grade trails more engaging. Which could lean towards the one bike to do it all. Just put a stiff enough fork on it. 27.5 5010 with a 36 & Cascade link here, good at foothills to big mountain. Are we back to All Mountain? Smile

27.5 5010 with Coil Lyric here - for pretty much the same "all mountain" type riding.

That is in theory my only mtb. Still need to sell the hardtail but I realisitically dont think I'll ride it again. Last time I rode it for mountainbiking was May.

Got a gravel bike this autumn for fitness/quick fireroad blasts/occasional commuting.

Vampire Fastarossa!  Low pivot -Mid- and a high pivot.  150,175,205 travel.  Built with a 170 and enduro drivetrain and dropper- and a DH fork for racing.

My preferred setup is just an enduro bike and use it to ride everything. Being on one bike means I was very familiar with the bike in all conditions and never need to adapt to another bike. The problem with this is not having a ridable bike when I break something or components are in need of maintenance. There were times when I couldn't get a replacement part or complete maintenance in time for my next ride. I don't like being in this situation.

Eventually I got another enduro bike so I always have something to ride.

I prefer this sort of idea, too: learn one bike really well and then learn how to have fun riding it above and below its capability.

I only have the second mtb because I had it before I bought my current main bike and the lack of availability of parts in my neck of the woods. When shock servicing is potentially a month or more out, I don't want to take a month off of riding. The bike shops in the area provide a valuable service (that I'm more than happy to support rather than an online purchase) but have to work within the terms the distributors give them. If they need to build a larger order for a part to arrive with free shipping from the distributor so they can make a little extra profit margin I might be waiting a couple weeks. I'm happy to do so because that's the sort of stuff that keeps a shop open. I'd rather not take a month off the bike, though, so I have the backup hardtail.

It's also holding most of a set of compatible replacement parts for my main bike. Fork, bars/stem, brakes, drivetrain (minus cassette), and front wheel are all swappable.

I have 4 bikes. Production Privee OKA. Devinci Wilson 29. Trance E+1 and another e-bike for river path riding. If I could only have 1 bike it would be the Wilson.

Two bikes. Hightower V2 for all trail riding. V10.8 for the bike park.

Three bikes + a fatty here. Bronson for my all around riding, from XC to aggro trails. DHR for bike park laps so that the Bronson doesn't see too much mechanical time off. And then Canfield N9 HT for occasional interval training and for mellow riding with the wife. I do about 40% of my annual mileage on the HT, it's a lot of fun on the right trails.

I used to be an "one bike to rule them all" kinda guy, for several reasons. Now i have 5 and riding bikepark and different kind of trails on bikes that are well adapted have made biking so much more fun.

I have but one bike - bikes that are being built and bikes in the process of being built.

Wait...I have two bikes - bikes that are built, bikes in the process of being built, and those that are being sold.

Grr, I have three bikes (three shall be the number!) - bikes that are built, bikes in the process of being built, and those being sold.

Apologies to Monty Python...

One MTB: 2020 Slayer, 180/180 27.5

Does it all.

I went from one bike to two bikes and now back to one.

I had an Evil Wreckoning which was surprisingly efficient, but wondered about something more fun - picked up a Follwong which I built into more trail than XC.. was a lot of fun but also realised the Wrecker isn’t the best downhill. Picked up a cheap Specialized Enduro frame on PB and loved it! Got real lucky and managed to get a full Flight Attendant upgrade for the RRP of a new Zeb. It transformed the bike - so much that I stopped using the Following. The Following frame got sold.

Now I have 1 bike but with almost enough parts to replace anything that breaks.  Also have access to the wife’s Kenevo SL just in case, but as I keep telling my friends - it’s not my bike! 🤣

I don't have anywhere else to post this pain so I shall do so here. I've been thinking back on the year, and as time went on I really wanted a Zink Vacay more and more. But I had just purchased a YT Jeffsy and couldn't afford to invest in not only another bike but an even more expensive bike/build of course... But I was thinking to myself "why did I get the Jeffsy and not the Zink? maybe the Zink wasn't released yet so I wasn't even aware of what I was missing? how long after buying the Jeffsy did the Zink finally release?"

Brothers. It quite literally mathematically could not be worse lol... YT receipt: Dec 16th. Zink Vacay embargo release date... December 17th.

keeping in mind the initial hype around Zink Bikes was his DH proto. I didn't have any insider info to imply he's actually making a slopeduro fun trail bike. very, very similar to my Jeffsy but with a BMX-ish rear center. I also didn't know, of course, that YT would be gone before the year is out. What really sold us on the Jeffsy was just the Mill. that experience was truly one of a kind.

So... Anyways... It's still something I'd like to save for, especially since so many parts can transfer over from the Jeffsy. But I just wanted to share this silly anecdote that I looked up cuz it was kinda bugging me, and I just can't believe the irony/coincidence here. Story of my life 😂

Have a good holiday, ya'll! (bitta rain in SoCal so it's shovel season babyy)

Maybe too many bikes; ex-roadie (and now coming back to it).

Smuggler gets ridden the most, the SS is second, then the gravel bikes, then the Aethos. They're all fun in their own way and I'm glad I have them.

- 2023 Transition Smuggler w/ a Cascade link
- 20?? Kingdom Ti Vendetta X2 singlespeed, 150mm fork
- 2019 SC 5010 (need to sell/strip for parts)
- 2014 Niner One9 RDO set up as drop-bar monstercross/burly gravel bike
- Custom BTCHN' steel bike-packing/gravel bike
- 2024 Specialized Aethos
