a) might not be the right thread, b) someone probably already posted, c) I'm like a month late on this, BUT: when was the last time a DH elite male used Hayes brakes to win Worlds? Fabien in Livingo?

Here's something to think about.

What if...we could actually look up the list of Downhill World Champions on the UCI website.
What if....they actually a results page where all that information was readily available.
What if....it existed.

But...nope!

We have to use Wikipedia to even look up medalists.

That page just links to this year's race results.
I'm referring to what Wikipedia had to set up.

Roots & Rain has each event, but you still can't subdivide into just World Championships.

If Wiki & Seb can catalog results for our sports, you'd think the governing body would have a results database link system in place.

Not that it's run by the uci but rootsandrain.com does a pretty good job!

Sad that the UCI doesn't do a better job.

not sure exactly what you're asking but I typed World Championship into the Roots and Rain Search bar and it brought up as far back as 1990

Yet another quirk of the internet.

In the "search" bar at the top of Roots and Rain, if you type DH World Championships...it doesn't give the results I hoped for.

And when I searched Downhill World Championships in the drop down for "Series" it wasn't an option.

Thanks.  I'll send Seb a "revision" thought or two. But hate to bug him with all he's had to go through.
If I could make 3 guys in MTB rich, it would be Spomer, Seb & JackieRiceCakes .

Andreas Kolb, 17th June 2023, Leogang Austria. And Rachel Atherton week before in Lenzerheide for females. If you are asking about world championship, thats a hard question :D

I believe he's asking about World Champs and I *think* he means before Charlie's win....

Hey, don't give Discovery and the UCI any ideas!

Hah. Olly Wilkins and Davy have talked pretty extensively about how urban DH should become its own sport and have a heavy marketing push to make it more popular. Some of the reasoning makes sense to me:

1) Ready-made live audience in population centers of race.

2) The "scale" makes more sense as people understand a bike dropping out of a two story window to the street below better than hucking off a stall wall without any point of reference. Speeds also look faster for same reason on camera.

3) Easier to televise and run infrastructure for television and filming.

Ultimately, it seems to have really taken off in South America, but it would be cool to see it grow into other areas.

On the latest Downtime Jack Moir said that the organizers didn't re-seed the field for the final stage. Is that rule optional or do are ESO just throwing their hands up at this point?

I picture the guy at the start looking at Moir and saying "Who are you?"

Hearing the filming method got me stoked…could absolutely see trying to watch the YouTube coverage as live…how long would I have to avoid spoilers before the vid would go up?

Just something interesting from the ixs cup in verbier, in the u17 mens and womens category two kiwi juinors who will be racing world cups next year took the race by storm. Tyler Waite 2nd in u17 mens with some mistakes - he was fastest in qualis, Ellie Hulsebosch took the win in u17 womens for both qualis and finals. Those two are going to have a big impact in juinors next year.

Jack Moir story shows some interesting taping change between practice and race.
