More on Fabio to Canyon:

Official Press Release

Munich, 8 January 2020 – For trials and mountain bike professional Fabio Wibmer, 2020 not only marks the beginning of a new decade, but also of a new era: As of now, the Torque, Sender and a brand-new trials bike will be the Austrian’s new bikes of choice. With Canyon as his new partner Fabio is happy to finally have one supplier for all of his bikes. The German Direct-2 consumer brand even created their very first trials bike for Fabio. As the newest member of the Canyon Team, Fabio will continue to show spectacular bike action and already has plans for the first adventures with his new rides.

The bike manufacturer from Koblenz, Germany welcomes their newest and probably most famous team member with a very special gift: they created a new bike for Fabio. The first Canyon trials bike will complete Fabio’s bike pool together with the proven Torque and Sender. “I am very happy to have found a new partner in Canyon, which supplies me not only with an enduro and a downhill bike, but also with a trials bike, and the quality of the Canyon bikes is self-explanatory,” adds the 24-year-old.

As the newest Canyon Team Rider, Fabio finds himself in the best of company with riders like Thomas Genon and Tomas Lemoine. Roman Arnold, founder and CEO of Canyon Bicycles is stoked to have Fabio joining Canyon: “He is an extraordinary character, with a calm demeanor that belies an incredible work rate coupled to maximum fun on the bike. It is exactly this spirit that engages such a huge audience, that includes me!”

Wow, didn't see it coming !

Plus, the street/trials frame is purely a Canyon, not a stickered Inspired. Bravo.

I don't think it's the most difficult thing in the world to have a custom frame built for a pro, if he knows exactly what he wants. They could have taken his Inspired, replicate it in their factory - boom!, there you go, your Canyon street trials bike! I am far more impressed by Danny's carbon Santa Cruz frame.

Fabio to Canyon is crazy! They must be doing some serious cash in order to have a Factory DH Team, FMD, Fabio and all their other programs. Did not see that coming at all.

Brannigan joins Propain Factory Racing, here is the full announcement from Propain:

We are over the moon here at Propain with our lineup for 2020: Henry Kerr is moving into his 4th season with the team and although his first year as an elite was no reflection on his impressive junior results when he took 2nd overall in the World Cup series and won the British series, we believe in Henry’s ability and know he is training hard to make it in the elite ranks. While Luke Williamson’s 2019 World Cup results didn’t reflect what he is capable of, now with his first year on the World Cup circuit behind him, we look forward to Luke feeling more at ease and watching his true ability and speed coming out on the track.

Welcoming our two new riders we cannot be happier having George Brannigan and Luke Meier-Smith on board. Luke impressed us from early 2019 when he posted a 4th place at his first-ever World Cup in Fort William, Scotland. From then, Bike from Vee Tire Co first hooked Luke up with tires and really brought him to our attention. Although we didn't have space on our factory team at the time, we gave him a bike and with nothing but the support from his parents, Mal and Tanja, Luke went on to finish the season strong with a 2nd place at the World Cup finals. We had built a great relationship with Luke and his parents and knew he was destined to be on board with us during 2020.

What can we say about George? He is a people's favorite and his speed on the track is mind-blowing. We were looking for a new elite rider to represent us and it’s thanks to Wyn Masters for putting the word out to our manager that he might be available. George tested the bike in the States after World Cup finals and immediately looked comfortable. Being a former podium contender followed by a couple of seasons plagued with injury, we are excited to help George back to the top 10 where we feel he belongs.

Yep it's not the most difficult thing in the world.
But they did it (with pieces from their Stitched), not going the easiest way of rebranding an Inspired, or going with the cheapest design possible like Merida did for Dominik Raab.

Santa Cruz use the street-trials frame like a R&D lab, that's not the same way...

Boom, coming back to the main subject : Canyon have some deep pockets, with Troy, the FMD, Tommy G, Tomas Lemoine, now Fabio (maybe the whole Sick team ?), plus three big road/CX teams...

All of that combined is probably 1/10th of what they spend on their road programs.

Haha think the same and anyway even if Ohlins would claim that he's not paid I'll never believe them. They just play it mysterious but they're like the others in mtb industry and pay to be seen!
