I love how most all bike reviewers say to go Wide Wide Wide, even changing out bars on test bikes, yet so many pro riders run right about 740-750 on trail bikes.

(Mountain Cross Racing) MCR Descender. Made by Brian Skinner after he and Dan Hanebrink parted ways. The Hanebrink Descender/SE Shocker had the shock mounted behind the seat tube.

Up-voted for the first half of your comment. I still have a lot of love for that Vital music; it means race season is here.

EWS is the first sport I've been interested in for a while. It reminds me of the old WRC days when you had many manufacturers with extremely talented drivers competing on the toughest roads around the world! So I do hope they start offering more coverage of it. I think it could become very popular if it were more out there because it's not as niche as Downhill and more exciting to watch than Tour De France.

Sarsha Huntington giving the live commentary of Nico making the nose wheeling around the corner. Reckons she is pretty Sic too. And she is. The Polar bear stopping on the tree and calling "that was nice" was pretty funny too.

Dollars to donuts that they rode more than just that trail for testing. EDIT: ^ Yep.

This was just one of many trails used to test the bikes. Unfortunately we're unable to post our video footage from the burlier trails (think non-stop rock action). While this trail is on the smoother side of the spectrum, it still offers some great perspective on how the bikes handle slalom-style terrain. We typically only rode it on short travel bikes, like the Intense Spider shown here.

I appreciate Vital not posting video (or names) of the "good" trails in SLO. As you now know there are some sick ones that need to stay on a need to know basis. And this trail is not in San Luis Obispo, but half hour away in Montana de Oro State Park. And it's fully legit.

Yeah, I could see it getting you close enough when comparing bikes of similar use, but man, Reach is a better and more accurate number, IMO. If you have Reach and Stack available, DT length is only novelty. For onsite measuring, DT length does top the level and plumb line approach for getting Reach, which requires the bike to be assembled. For the record, I have only measured Reach once with that method and it required two of us and a bike stand to get it.

It’s a bit disconcerting to hear you guys call out trails like ___ so casually. I like to see that you are doing bike testing in an area that I ride, because for me it legitimizes the review. My main concern is keeping the identity of most of the trails under wraps. ___ is a delicate situation for quite a few reasons. There used to be a ‘no trespassing’ sign near the entrance, and it’s a bit unclear whether or not the trail is illegal. Other trails in close proximity are illegal, and at least one has been torn down...

I live in SLO but due to illness I have been unable to ride at all for the past 3-1/2 years, so it's kind of nice to get to see some of my old favorite spots again. Especially when they've been photographed so beautifully! Really looking forward to reading all the reviews as well.

That old commentary was like watching the race with the buds after a great ride. It had flavor! And it was authentic and genuine. You could feel the tension, and connect with it. The racers are racing on the edge of disaster, and the screaming and yelling payed homage to those risks. I've never been a fan of a commentator before. P

Watered down Warner is still way better than pretty much any other sports commentary I've ever heard. His personality still comes through. My personal favorite Warner-ism........"He's on the rampage, like a dog with two dicks, here this afternoon!" (about Sam Hill, I think it was the 2009 World Cup final at Schladming if I recall correctly)

They are both Spec sponsored athletes. Even if it is, I don't care. Companies can inject as many products as they like into videos as long as they are executed like this.
