8/22/2024 9:16am If they can make the battery out of air and cut the frame weight in half, that might be possible. LOL The excitement over the ZF & other promised products is over the top. It's not even in production and people are acting like advert copy is proof the other products are no longer competitive at all.

7/26/2024 10:50am This statement has been made confusing by SRAM marketing, and isn't true: " A T-Type transmission or something similar will shift better than mechanical because it knows the precise time to shift to prevent damage and premature wear. " There is no timing, there's no sensor that knows the position of the cassette. The magic is in the cassette itself, which is designed more like an OG front dual chainring with ramps that only move the chain up when it hits those designed shift points. There are also narrow-wide elements on the largest cogs to retain the chain, presumably for...

7/25/2024 8:17am How about an eMTB Tech Rumors and Innovation thread stickied to the top to discuss batteries and motors?

7/24/2024 6:24am I think there is also a cost/time saving in assembly of the bike with a wireless drivetrain, from a production POV it's probably more repeatable and efficient to fit a SRAM transmission on the production line. In my experience manufacturing engineering departments tend to want to influence product development to suit their needs, often with detrimental effects for the customer in terms of product features.

7/23/2024 9:34pm Ill admit I own and love the GX Transmission, it's been great for me, but it seems that SRAM is actively leaving performance on the table by not producing a cable version. Is there any technical reason they couldn't produce a mechanical one that is lighter and therefore performs even better? It would be cheaper and with all of the...

7/23/2024 11:40am The wireless only stuff seems pretty dumb but then I don’t really care, my next unassisted bike will have a gearbox. Any rumors on new entries in that market? I’ve got money for the right gearbox bike and the right lightweight enduro emtb but not sure when either will come along.

7/22/2024 3:37pm As good as this bike is, I still think the Rocky Mountain approach to ebike motors is the best design (but from QC complains, maybe not the best implemented). You get a baked in high pivot, but since the power is delivered via the no-longer idler pulley, many benefits are realized. The internal stresses on the motor housing, frame, pivots, cog, etc are all reduced. Also, since the diameter of the driving cog is so much smaller than a chainring, a higher RPM can be used, skipping an entire gear reduction step for the motor. This allows (in theory) a...

7/19/2024 2:42pm Really? A minor update for their most outdated bike? Bizarre
How did Kevin get on with the M/L size given that he is a bit taller at 5'11"? I'm the same height and am thinking to go M/L to retain a bit more precision. Would love to know his thoughts on that.
