3/26/2022 8:56am 35th for Gwin, Dak somewhat better at 13th, but the Intense doesn't seem to be living up to some people's expectations so far this weekend. Kinda disappointed that Mulally hasn't qualified for the main event too.

3/26/2022 5:22am Who's gonna win in the Enduro Class? Forbidden Dreadnought? Orbea Rallon? Norco Range? Any others? Bet the riders were happy to have bottle cages so they could stay hydrated during those long uplift queues.

3/25/2022 12:41pm Taking the fun out of funicular. That Scott rider (Romain Chatalay according to his number) sure was living dangerously with his landing off the jump before the whoops.

3/25/2022 6:37am I don't think Reece is reliant on the weather as some make out. He won 1st round at Snowshoe and was green in the 2nd round when he lost his chain, IIRC both races were dry. As others have said, great work done by the Vital team, showing the other site how it should be done. I can't wait for...

2/24/2022 2:00am i'm not 100% positive, but based on our experience, it may have been UCI, not RB, that put footage restrictions in place.

2/23/2022 7:17am What I’m most worried about is Red Bull was definitely under the impression that all good coverage is good for them. They have helped cathro along instead of stifled him. There has always been a fair number of unofficial media at the tracks and they are treated fairly if they aren’t a total ignoramous. They have also put the effort into improving the product. Was not uncommon for them to change an angle between a double header to better show a portion of track and they have done this over the years at all the tracks. Dh is an incredibly...

2/22/2022 11:42am I think you're right in saying 4X would make for a much better fit in the Olympics, ski and boarder cross have proved very popular. Also the UCI have done damage enough, without getting the IOC involved. As far as not having mountains near by, the Paris Olympic surfing will be held in Tahiti, so it kinda becomes moot.

2/22/2022 11:28am We all eat, breath, drink, some sort of "poison" knowingly or unknowingly all the time I get sick of hearing it every time energy drinks are mentioned, I wonder how many people that make "just drink water" comments are straightedges themselves. Most of that type say RedBull is poison, so is beer, soda, coffee, and Flint water. RB sells a product you can buy it or not, don't want a RB don't have one. Yes water is bette for you but, Water tv has really shitty coverage of DH, Rally, Dakar, or other fringe sports I would rather watch than...

2/22/2022 10:07am AFAIK Olympics has a set number of medal sets. So to bring a sport in, another one has to be dropped. Because they could only bring in climbing under one set of medals, they did this menage a trois for a single medal. Might be dumb, but I'm not complaining as we got a gold medal out of it
But yeah, don't really see DH as something that would make sense for the olympics, even though skiing is part of the winter olympics...

2/22/2022 9:26am So this mean that riders will have a better pay, better insurance and health coverage in case of accidents due to higher exposure to media?.... Well we know the answer, the things will remanin the same for riders and the big money will go to the same companies than before and some new ones not sharing and giving a F...K about the sport. Anything that the UCI or big media touch become s...t.

2/22/2022 2:59am Your arguments make little sense. Red Bull drink is marketed as a consume in moderation product, Coca-Cola is certainly not and the sugar and caffeine differences per serving are of negligible difference. I'm not sure what questions you have about Red Bull's "money flow" but the drinks company is essentially a marketing company and off-shoots like Red Bull Media House (who do WC coverage) are, like their F1 teams, a part of their diversification away from beverages only. As for POV footage from WC races, any rider can run a camera in finals if they sign waiver and they can...

2/21/2022 12:00pm From what I've read it was Freecaster who were behind it, but they dropped the idea when RB announced they would be providing free coverage of the UCI events using more and better definition cameras than Freecaster were proposing for the breakaway series, so they feared a lot of teams wouldn't compete in DH1 and dropped the idea. It would...

2/21/2022 11:42am They'll probably use that fat guy who used to announce crank works. You remember, the one who yelled "SHUT THE FRONT DOOR" after each and every single trick... Goddam, that guy was annoying. We've come a long ways in commentary, eh. Edit, replying to Poweredbyhotdogs.

2/21/2022 11:50am We've come a long way in WC racing, but Crankworx commentary is still pretty awful IMO. Ed Leigh was painful to listen to during the NZ events. But yes, Brad Jay takes the award for most annoying commentator ever.

2/21/2022 10:11am if they don't hire warner, we kickstarter to get an alternative audio stream of warner. also, over the last two-three years b/c of red bull free streams, watching XC has been awesome. i never cared before, but the coverage had me tuning in. hopefully that continues as well.

2/21/2022 10:11am I hope everyone that made a complaint about the FREE redbull coverage over the years, wishes they did not. Redbull changed the entire landscape of DH and XC racing. Huge resurgence for both sports, in terms of viewership since Redbull got involved. They built hype, excitement and did it well. It is an incredibly hard sport to cover, logistically and they got better and better. UCI owes redbull a debt of gratitude. Too early to tell what will come of this, perhaps DiscoTV will lead us to a whole new audience? and that can be good. I just don't know...

2/21/2022 8:41am Personally I would love to see an alternative race series, I remember it was tried in the past with DH1 (IIRC backed by Freecaster?) but it never happened. I know there are people in the industry who'll say the UCI's involvement is a good thing, but it seems to me they are far more interested in bleeding all the money...
