Everything Lourdes World Cup

It’s basically February which means it’s nearly March which means World Cup Racing is nearly here! (Positive thinking never hurts)

To start of excitement, this is too good not to share. Course builders must be following the AMA Supercross these days!

According to some locals this section of track could easily be in the 50km/h

Has a spectator been appointed to ride the bike of anyone who crashes through this section yet?

How part of the field must be feeling looking at this.

Can't wait for March to come around.

Any Lourdes locals (or similar) that can comment on the weather that time of year? I know it's not high elevation, but in late march what are the chances it'll be a mud race? Not that a mud race is a bad thing, as long as the conditions are the same for everyone.

The laws of nature say: the steeper the track, the higher the chance of rain

I like that the track builders are using a plate compactor to make sure those whoops are basically made of concrete by March.

I'm very sad we won't get to hear Loris vocalize this portion of track for Jordie's entertainment.

But sir, Reece Wilson will just think it looks like home.

I can't wait for a Wilson vs Thirion woods section again.

The Loris Soundboard website made my phone scream "danger" hacker/spyware threat 😥

Windrock has a whoops section but this looks more tightly spaced (hard to judge in the pic). I wonder how this will actually ride (skim along top or gap in and out).

I'm from Toulouse, not exactly next to Lourdes but not that far, the answer is: good chance. Last time I have been there was the 2017 WC. It was end of April and still got heavy showers and 10°... But who knows Smile

You can be the weatherman for this race. Keep us updated on the actual forecast by sticking your head out the window when the teams are in town please. I think 70 miles away is close enough for a decent report.Wink

Noo way you can go slow enough to gap these if you want to podium. Definitely gonna have to MX skip these... Also I'd be baffled if UCI doesn't show up and tell them to flatten it. And shocked if Gwin is racing lol. GWIN WOULD HAVE HIT THE WHOOPS NO BRAKES need that sign in the crowd...

As long as they tape it wide in the rock sections, it should be a good race. Normal brings good racing

Can't wait, all the Frenchies will be fired up, Daprella (if he can stay on!), Loris, Loic, Pierron. Plus Laurie Greenland is looking incredible on the V10. What are the predictions for podium?

1 Pierron
2 Bruni
3 Vergier
4 Brosnan
5 Greenland

Yeah definitely won't be surprised if the UCI makes them modify it.

Lourdes tends to mix things up. Hope loic puts down a heater and takes the top spot.

Stevie’s last race was a 2nd in Lourdes. Wilson has a similiar racing style and I think will do his best to give the frenchies a run for their money.

People love the PB Huck-to-Flat slow-mos, but I'd 100% rather see that whoops section in slow-mo. Can we we crowd fund a high-speed camera for Vital in time for this? Good Lourde that'd be sweet.

I could find some MRP budget for that – would love to see what a chain does there! Smile

Troy Brosnan unfortunately out with a broken ankle. ☹️

Toss back to 2017 and it's a bit concerning thinking that Lourdes is being held a MONTH earlier this year. The media squids don't think it makes much sense and for a good reason, the soil in Lourdes becomes almost unrideable in the wet, plus travel logistics for riders/teams outside of Europe to get to a one-off World Cup is expensive and complicated. Food for thought from those on the front line...

I know weather in the mountains changes quickly, but looking at temperatures it has barely dropped below 0C this month with daily averages above 10C and isnt looking to change, so really not sure what there banging on about.
