are people bummed about the ads on a red bull broadcast? i can't say i've ever noticed them in a way that detracted from the watching experience.

Obviously all this is speculation but damn I'm worried. Loved that you could watch the full replay whenever. Living in the PST time zone I would normally wake up, go for a quick ride and then watch the full replay at my leisure. As long as you stayed off social media it was like watching live. Also bummed that we wont be hearing Rob, Elliot or Tracey any more. Whats the chance that they find some dude who have never even ridden a bike to commentate this?

i wasn't even concerned with pay-per-view or advertising models, so the "free" topic is out in the weeds a bit, but i understand what you're saying. i also understand that red bull has people who control the purse strings and they've been in and out of MTB just like any other business. high times, with athletes and programs cashing in. times where departments and athletes are cut and let go and they're the devil. this year's WC coverage is proof. way less non-race-day content. can you blame them? UCI cut them out of the broadcasting deal, so uphold their bargain...

After watching the presentation I expect the coverage to be homogenised "professional" sport coverage, which I will do not even bother to watch as it will be behind paywall. However it's a great opportunity for teams, riders, people like Wyn and Cathro to produce high quality insider content that will shift audience from Discovery and hopefully move MTB away from UCI in the process. If Vital could curate that content in one place it would be awesome!!!! That's my optimistic take on the situation :D

Just watched the DH WC race. I don't own a DH bike, I probably never will. I have walked a few courses and watched a few races in the flesh, it always boggles my mind how mental these courses are, you get no perspective on how insane and steep they are until you are watching someone fly down sections you'd be walking... never mind you can't walk down half of it, let alone up. And at the end of 4 minute course, the top ten is within fractions of a second of each other which is bonkers to me. This...

@jesse - so rad you chimed in. thank you! i selfishly hope you focus on racing and not vlogging/interviewing if your goal is podium contention and you're in your racing prime. let the media nerds and race organizers stay up late editing and uploading. your POVs are dialed.
