Uncle Cliffy Added a reply to E-bike talk: not tech rumor derailment
3/22/2025 8:08am That’s funny. I have the “big grimace bike,“ and yeah it’s heavy. I can tell you that it’s mostly in the frame. Word on the street is the new Powertube battery is significantly lighter. Friend of mine has last years Sight size XL, and it’s 58 pounds with carbon wheels and carbon cranks.

3/22/2025 7:31am Looks like Norco quietly dropped the new generation Sight VLT. Probably to keep up with Transition dropping the Regulator CX recently. 800 WH battery under 50 pounds? Very cool. https://www.norco.com/bikes/e-mountain/e-all-mountain/sight-vlt-cx/25-s…

3/15/2025 10:05pm I don’t get paid by Norco or anything, but I feel like they have the dropper post sizing pretty dialed. Here’s a screen cap from the specs of a 2025 Sight;

2/26/2025 1:24pm I kinda fell for it. I used to like loud-ish hubs, but not I9 loud… Admittedly been on Onyx hubs for a couple years. Can’t deal with excessively loud hubs anymore.

2/26/2025 9:47am Code numbers and spec jargon in the product title. This is essentially the car audio industry for as long as I can remember.

2/26/2025 9:41am In an industry full of confusing nomenclature (see: "EXO+ Maxxterra" vs. "TLR Gravity Pro Addix Soft"), I've always found Giant's naming system to be particularly confusing. "Trance X E+ Advanced Elite." Imagine being a new customer! Totally hopeless.

2/20/2025 11:10pm This is crazy, but hear me out. What if the housing came out the bottom of the seat tube and ran along the outside of the downtube and then to the lever? I get what you're saying, and we're never going back to mass adoption of external routing. But it's insanity that electronic droppers are being offered as a solution to a problem the industry created and could so easily solve. It's like a horror movie when the person being held in a room realizes the door's been unlocked for quite some time and they could have just walked out.
