"Banshee knows that frame weight is not a top priority for a bike like this." Really? Granted, there isn't really a bike EXACTLY like this on the market, but if you're grinding out long climbs with a single ring, weight is indeed a factor. There's a lot going on with the prototype material-wise, so I'm guessing the XL will be closer to 9lbs...

I don't think Giant is two years behind Specialized, but I agree that no ISCG and no thru axle is a fail. When I got 10mm rear axle for my Trance X the rear triangle became significantly stiffer.

34mm is where its at for a bike like this. If every part on a bike can get a tiny weight savings then the whole thing ends up being substantially lighter.

The industry wins out yet again. 36mm forks are going the way of the freeride set. Engineer egg heads probably saw a negligible stiffness penalty with a slight weight reduction for the same travel. Reminds me of 15mm axles and how you can't get a trail fork in 20mm as easy as you used to... Meh. Still looks fine to me.
