I have created a spreadsheet with rumors on it in an attempt to calculate the points that each team will have going into 2025 and which teams will be world series teams (since this year the rankings are based on rider points). I do not have better info than anyone else, I am simply reading the forums. €40,000 for 10 riders at 10 events is €400 per rider per event to cover entry fees, paddock space (including power and water), plus whatever comes in the media package. Sounds reasonable to me, and maybe a good incentive to have sign 10 riders. Consider what entry fees are for your local race, and then consider how much bigger a production a world cup is. This is a way for the team sponsors to indirectly pay for putting on the race. And nobody participates in any professional sport for free. Either the individual or their team pays into the league...

I think there's actually 6 bullet points and none of them are related to nepotism or favouritism. They could be abused that way, but assuming that's WBD default position or their intention without any evidence is plain wrong IMHO. That's my whole point. Having a diverse criteria from which to select wildcard teams likely makes sure the best racers, best team structures or injured riders have a chance no matter their points situation. Loris is not mucking around, he’s got himself onto an absolutly dominant team for next year. Hopefully there’s no clash of the titans with the big personalities. After his stripes this year, next year should be a supreme one. All rumours.

Maybe I'm just being overly optimistic or giving too much benefit of the doubt, but either way I cant see why the only option here is that WBD are gonna abuse their system. Seems to me that they have created a fuzzy window to make sure small teams with high profile riders like Gwin Racing can access World Cups, these teams likely having better budget and resources etc.. than a team made up of 8-10 low ranked riders. I know negativity is cool and all in 2024/5, but this rule change or whatever you call it, is because previously, under UCI organisation teams were not allowed to sell merch from their pits. I think it was so the local organisers could make more money selling expo space to vendors etc... So it's basically a positive change... but ya.

My comment wasn't a mix of xc and DH or EDR. It was that a DH team would need to cover three of the four categories in DH. One male, one female and say a jr male. Or a team could be Female, Jr Female.and Jr Male. Pick three of four.
