I was nervous to click the link, but, I like the images portrayed here. My kid is 17 going on 18 now, not much of a bike rider (more of a summer park rat, lift access type) but, I think back to the days when she was 8-12 and kinda rode a bit, especially on vacation and seeing that final shot of the grom at the top of a high alpine trail is awesome. So strangely, there doesn't seem to be any DH fantasy for 2023... So I went ahead and created an app so we can all still play and follow along with the 2023 season. https://www.downhillmtbfantasy.com/ I've been testing for a couple days, hoping I got rid of all of the bugs. The Canadian Open DH at Crankworx is a UCI point level event for the Elite / U19 and has U17 and U15 categories. Travel to Whistler to get some WC level track and travel exposure. They will be racing the new 1199 track in Creekside this year. https://www.crankworx.com/event/canadian-open-dh/

I’m 30+ years into MTB fandom- It’s been about 20 years since we’ve had pro and Jrx fields this deep at a national. Hopefully the same energy and momentum carries forward for the Mtn Creek and USopen rounds!

i posted this in the discovery forum thread, but figure it could go here too - by having jrs and semis live, is finals day appearance de-valued? race results are what matter, but how many viewers will pay to watch finals day live w/ freebies a day or two before? from a dollar-per-view perspective, juniors and mid-packers just became great deals!

True that... No surplus money being put into mtb national champs from USAC... But somehow there is a $60,000 prize purse at the inaugural USAC Gravel National Championships . My prediction... My take on the split is two potential reasons: Reason 1 - USAC decided to try something different based on year after year struggles with cramming so many races, practices, qualifying, etc. into one week with 5 disciplines across age groups (8-80) and skill levels (non -championship and true cat 1 and pro "championship races". @Trill Will I'm well aware that venues and promoters typically lose money on Nationals. I was suggesting that if we had a strong national cycling federation, they would do what it takes (pay) to have nationals at good venues. But we don't. And we're left with places willing to possibly/probably take a loss on putting the event on. Sad state of affairs.
