Saw one of these in the flesh on a gravel bike at work, had a pedal around and it seems to work really well, shifts under load smoothly between the 2 gears. Really interesting to see if it gets picked up as it would be great to run a smaller cassette/shorter cage mech for clearance and then have the 2 ratios for climbing/descending. The shifter was really neatly intergrated under the bartape on the bike I saw, be interesting to see how well it could be built into a shifter/button for MTB use. It doesn't currently connect to Sram AXS...

Let 1.8" just die slowly and silently and fade away. Seems the industry is doing it for us.

FSA has reducer races for that. 1.8 bearing to 1.5 steerer. Reach out to them. Designed for their headset but might work with others. But they definitely make them.

At some point you will have to cross the cassette if you want a small cassette only. Which will be cumbersome with human power any way you look at it. It would make most sense with bigger jumps between gears on the cassette and use this hub gear to double up the number of gears. So six or seven cogs for 12 or 14 gears. But you'd still need a 40t large chainring and a somewhat standard derailleur. It would be a lot narrower though. And you'd need electronic shifting to achieve that as the hub would shift back and...

Both. It switches mid travel. Kinda like what happens on the Ghost or on modern Ibis DW link bikes. In those two cases the links start off co-rotating then the lower link starts to counter rotate. With the Meta it will be the opposite because the lower link is forward facing. If you look at it from the top link's perspective, it will be pulling the swingarm and thus the lower link up over the 'hump', which will be passed once the pivots of the top link are aligned with the midpoint of the lower link. From that point on...

From the front page: https://www.vitalmtb.com/photos/features/New-COMMENCAL-META-P003-1-Prot… Looks like the Meta is now a dual link setup? I'm too ignorant to tell if they're concentric or opposing rotation.

I believe the new one is a all-new Shape, same suspension layout but stronger Carbon frame. - the old one wasnt that stiff for carbon Expect atleast 155mm of travel on the reign, when i owned mine back last year i was told july for giants release, not sure if thats true though as never thought about them again after having two ruined carbon frames.

Just so long as AP doesn't endo over the finish line! Still one of the more dramatic finishes! I'm going to predict that Reece Wilson could do well. His aero tuck is very good. The top of the track is rough, but not super steep, and at snowshoe last year he seemed to excel at keeping speed thru the rough flatish section towards the bottom (if I recall correctly). Just a thought. But yeah it'd be great to see Minaar take the win.

Didn't Finn not race snowshoe finals last year due to concussion symptoms? Regardless, as someone that has been around since the dawn of time of DH racing, I am glad athletes are finally letting their brains heal-too many years of "suck it up, have a water, get back out there" after smashing their heads.

Not sure I understand the concern or the risk, but that doesn’t mean you’re wrong. Seems like an exact situation as the Aurum to me, Norco designs a carbon HP Sight, which would be an all new design (obviously) that would be their “premium” trail bike. Keeps, the old Sight as an alu only version, cause you might as well, prices it competitively to make more value from the design and tooling. This is a direct competitor to the forbidden Druid, which where I am is a commercial success. Seems like a similar strategy to the Aurum, which was essentially...

It's so interesting the Pike has gone from a 160 fork to a 120 fork over the years, while the fuel ex has gone from a 110ish bike to the a 150 bike 😂

Usually it is the bath oil rather than suspension fluid that is the bigger problem. Use a thinner oil during winter (0W30 or 0W40), and SuperGliss 100k during summer. Shocks have more damping and higher forces, and do not act as a structural element with glide bushings, so they are not that temperature sensitive as forks i cold weather. Open up some clicks in the LS circuits and good to go Smile Back to rumors, please. Internal shocks look very nice, and suck for all other purposes. Twinlock is s band aid for lazy suspension engineers, and I want the...
