This is a good point. If you have a month then Sun Peaks, Revy, (Maybe Pano), Fernie, Silver star with a couple of stops in the interior (Nelson / Red) would be a phenomenal trip. Depends a bit on how much you want to travel with a 3 year old though.... If I wasn't riding I'd be struggling after 20...

My only comment as an Albertan is Whistler is out of the way and kind of isolated in it's own bubble when compared to all the other interior bike parks. Minimize the driving and plan a trip dedicated to the interior vs. Whistler plus more. Sun Peaks is the only one that's kind of close to Whistler, and it's not that close. You won't be lacking things to do if you skip the coast.

The problem with stella Blue is that makes me think I can actually properly do jumps.... And then every other trail reminds me that's not actually the case...

3 days is good for sun peaks especially if the family isn't riding. It'd be a shame to visit Revy and not ride Boulder / Frisby and / or Martha Creek but those are all a bit more logistically challenging than pure bike parks. This is another wild card for a suggestion but given your daughter's age - Panorama. It's...

You'd get a pretty good feel for sunpeaks in three days. One could ride bad habit and stella blue for three days straight, in fact my wife usually does. Another place we really enjoy is Valemount. No lift service there though, just shuttles on the weekends, or ebike up during the week. Not as much stuff for the family to do though.

You don't say how long you have and also are the rest of the family riding? Personally Sun Peaks is my favorite and I rate it higher than Whistler. It's so much less busy and everyone seems more relaxed. I also think the trails are just less beaten up. Yeah they aren't quite as good but on average I think...

Interesting article in the economist today (paywall so not linked) talking about the continuing rise of commuter ebikes as a supplement to (or Infact replacing) a second family car. Brands such as Tern or Urban Arrow are apparently selling much better than the general market. Anything that makes it into even slightly more mainstream media is worth noting. If I...

Thanks & great question - it's a longer answer than we can reasonably sum up here, but we'll do our best. Your assessment is correct - an "agile" ride character has always been somewhat of a hallmark here at Evil. We try to walk the line between agile/fun, and stable/confident. Short stays make for fun wheelies & jumps, thus, we've always stayed on the shorter side. There's a great argument for size-specific chainstay lengths - that much, we do not debate. Our rear triangles are a relatively complex mold. Molds are quite expensive. Introducing another rear triangle mold increases total...

I'm guessing it's someone like Roberts composites in Vancouver. I've used them and was impressed including colour matching. Totally saved me from an expensive right off...

Hey look what I found in the parts bin: This was one of the last things I worked on at RS before I left... goal was to control big hits by weakening or slowing down the return of the air spring. I run my setup with a lot of spring and no damping, so getting bucked on big hits is part of the deal. This thing 'gulps' all the air in the positive chamber on compression and lets it out with a tiny delay (since it all has to go through the tiny hole to get out). No delay on...

I feel obliged to point out that pinkbike has an article about SRAM patenting an air based high speed rebound damper.... I've always been skeptical due to how much air A) compresses and b) heats up but interested to hear more informed opinions...

Yeah, trying to understand ALSO as an entry into the recreational e-bike market is missing the entire picture. They’re working on the micro-mobility market and trying to do so without the baggage of the traditional recreational cycling product lens. The TM-B is entirely pedal-by-wire: the cranks don’t connect to the rear wheel mechanically, they connect to a generator/throttle. This means you’re probably pretty hosed if you run out of battery, but the given range estimate is 60-100mi because that design allows them to have regenerative braking w/ programmatic blending between the motor and the hydraulic brakes. It’ll do up to...

I don't even like playing the "Who has a 148 rear wheel I can borrow [with my preferred freehub interface and/or a cassette of similar size and # of speeds that's compatible with my chain]?" game. I don't think I would like the 157mm SuperBoost version of that game.

Can't tell if sarcasm or real? I like Large Language Models for some things (there's a moment coming when the whole business of software development is going to be upended which is going to be very interesting...) but for other things much less so.

Surely though it's as much around having multiple options from one frame as user "conversions"? Much like Trek with the new Fuel Ex. More economical from their perspective?
