I appreciate the info my friend. You went over my head with most of it as I’m primarily a moto guy but I get the gist 🤙🏼. Guess I’m locked into a 2 yr buying cycle for a while but I am a believer in having the right equipment for your kid. And still affordable compared to dirt bikes 😎My 9 yr old likes the drops as well - good times @Bentonville

The jump in handling (especially in the air) between a 24" hardtail and 27.5' full suspension is going to be a lot. For what it's worth I've had the same dilema for my just turned 11 5ft giraffe :o) I decided to go systematically up through the wheel sizes and so at 10 he was riding a 26' Chromag Minor...

And yet entirely in keeping with the overall industry ethos. My biggest initial reservation on ebikes was around their potential implications for access. Rules vary a lot and in their quest for sales I can't recall any company providing any sort of guidance on potential "ethics". I recall one manufacturer taking a fleet of Ebikes on a dealer demo past...

Is it just me or does that rebound adjuster look even more awkward than the current model? Depending on your frame that could be almost inaccessible (e.g transition's)

I always disliked the condescending views about "influencers" and think don't hate the player, hate the game - you can't knock people for having a go at making money from something that they were led to believe could be successful. At the end of the day they wouldn't even get started if there wasn't people watching them, or at least an algorithm serving those videos to everybody. I would argue huge chunks of the bike industry is unsustainable - in its current state I struggle to think of many players who are completely rock solid. Shimano? World Cup racing is...

Kids Ebikes might never become a flooded segment because depending on where you are in the world they could be illegal. E.g in BC you have to be 14 and a 14 year old is too big for this.... https://www2.gov.bc.ca/gov/content/transportation/driving-and-cycling/c… And in Alberta it's 12 so still pretty marginal for this size. I thought the comments about jumping were interesting as relative to rider weight the bike is significantly heavier.

I almost think the inverse is true for batteries and motors though. I'm not interested in an ebike but if I was the combination of rapidly evolving tech and massive depreciation (because evolving tech and bike industry...) along with mixed reliability would make me very leery.... And they're not exactly cheap either.

I spent a bit of time idly looking into this today and some tax lawyers are going to be very busy... I think the biggest initial headache is including these in whatever accounting system brands are using... It's not a small task on either side of the border. And when does the tariff get collected? Presumably as the product crosses...

Well the tariffs are coming. Good luck to DaVinci, Norco, Transition etc, brands that do a lot of cross border sales. I wonder since a lot of the frames are made in Taiwan and shipped from Taiwan they won't be tariffed. Unfortunately products like Vorsprungs new shock will now be 25% more expensive for Americans.

Your point about being a potential competitor to other frame manufacturers (when it comes to OEM wheel spec) isn't invalid, but I agree it's likely pretty far from their biggest reason for cutting off frames. I worked for a boutique bike brand (eventually as a product manager) when the Arrival 152 was in full swing launch/marketing - lots of guys there, including myself, ran WR1 wheels on their personal bikes. When the time came and we began looking at new carbon wheel spec options, WR1 should have been a prime candidate (if we ignored weight, which wasn't something the brand...

The frames were the same but I think (others in this thread know more) that the suspension tune was for a lighter rider and the contact points smaller. Having said that my better half never considered them because your resale market is so much smaller.

personally, i'm of the opinion (and others seem to be as well) is that once you can mate / integrate a gearbox with an e-bike motor the floodgates would probably open up.

Man, I don't want to derail this thread even more than I already have today (and yesterday), but does anyone else feel like the term "Certified Pre-Owned" is a bit of a misnomer? They're clearly trying lean into the automotive market, where CPO is essentially defined term wherein the OEM has inspected the car, certified it, and is continuing to honour the warranty (and possibly extending it). Is TPC inspecting, certifying, and honouring warranties? (hint: the answer is no). I was curious about what CPO means in this case so I checked their terms of service; it means you get...

Just to put a fork in this one, I did hear from a reputable unnamed source that AB is doing just fine. So, lets chalk that up to the first "L" of the year for me! I feel my big miss here was twofold, besides the fact the flat out make a killer bike. Equity Sale: They raised at least $4M, which is a chunk. Plus, its equity so you aren't on the clock to pay it back. This is plenty of capital to put infrastructure in place without financing terms you'd usually have to be subjected to. Hence, if...
