People get angry with you because you ignore other people's opinions. Go watch moimoi test the frameworks enduro bike, discover it's less flickable than he expects, then discover later on that the chainstay is long and that's what he was feeling. It has always meant something that's less stable, more dynamic, more bmxy, and it's weird AF to pretend that those qualities in a bike don't exist or that you can't attribute a lot of that behaviour to a shorter stay.

Why the fuck did you read my prior comment about what "flickable" means, like it, and then post that? I feel like you ride in a way that doesn't suit a short chainstay bike, you're just not interested in entertaining the idea that other people do, and you don't like that they have words to describe how those bikes ride because you just don't get it.

On a short chainstay bike you get a shorter wheelbase for the same cockpit size and head angle, so it's less stable and cuts a shorter turn. Your feet are closer to the rear wheel so it's easier to feel where it is. It's easier to push in and overwhelm just the rear tire, because when you push with your feet that's where the weight goes. You can turn with your feet more. You don't need to pull as hard on the bars to transfer weight or lift the front. That's what flickable means, and that's what people generally like...

If they went through the bother of redesigning the front triangle for this Levo R (it's got some changes compared to the normal Levo 4) then I do not know why they didn't decide to make a slimmer down tube with a fixed 600/700wh slim battery. They likley could have gotten this down to 19kg or so with a full power motor which would have been more interesting imo.

Upping the wattage and torque is easy to do and is really easy to market. You want to be fastest uphill? Buy this system. There are a lot of dudes who can't resist power level D-measuring contests. Lightening the batteries and motor is the hard part and what most of us want. It'll get there…

Respectfully, I disagree with your characterization of the Base brake's lever feel. I don't think there has ever been a brake in the history of the universe with a more on/off lever feel than the Maven Ultimate, and the thing I like most about the Base is that it keeps 90% of the power but makes the lever feel mushier in a good way. Lots more room to fine tune brake power using your finger on the Base, whereas the window to do that with the Ultimate feels like it occurs in roughly 0.04mm of lever movement.

At 178cm I'm also always between M and L on the sizing charts, here is my two cents: Going back to 2014, my YT Capra was a Medium, and the reach ( just checked ) was only 422mm; I was then a medium also by their sizing charts. In the last decade and a bit, bikes didn't only get longer, but the sizing charts usually also send us to a larger size, so if I follow some recommendations, I should be riding an L bike on most manufacturers which will usually have now 475-480 reach. That's a big change! Since...

Since I've been reading all the comments, I wanted to clarify that there's a world of difference between these two genres of responses that keep popping up in this thread: "Previously I'd never ventured beyond the manufacturer's recommended size for my height, but then I tried sizing up and it's my preferred frame size now". vs. "I've tried many different frame sizes, including bikes that are bigger and smaller than recommended, and I'm pretty confident that I know what my preferred size is. However, I'm stuck choosing between two sizes on a bike I'm looking at, one that I know...

The Mille negs are shit. Crashes all the time? This was her first broken bone. A clavicle. Amaury jacked his and was racing soon thereafter. I can’t think of any of the top female DH racers from last year that haven’t spent significant time off of the bike recovering. Tahne, Miriam, Camille, Anna, Marine, Jess, etc. Jackson skrewed himself up in ‘24, Ronan in ‘25. Don’t invite them back? ”Read the Room” is the operative phrase here.
