The new Pivot DH rig is really cool. I wonder if it could run a dropper, the seat post looks like it could???

Not likely. Just doing a quick search, there are zero design patents in the USPTO or EUPTO for brakes from either company. Utility patents do not cover design, and design patents do not cover utility. If there is enough prior art, which there is, no patent attorney will take on trying to fight for a design patent. In general design...
You can find the amount of dissolved gas in any fluid by looking up a table of the Ostwald coefficient for that particular fluid. Mineral fluid has 10% from my memory. Most liquids have about 10% dissolved atmosphere in them at STP. Mixing fluids, almost like that of bleeding brakes can increase the dissolved gas in a system until the...

As a current St Evo owner as well as a Madonna V3 owner, the Madonna pedals 2-3x better than the Stumpy and tracks the ground like Velcro. I have a hard time wanting to ride the Stumpy that weights almost 11 pounds lighter than the Madonna because it doesn’t pedal or track as well as the Madonna. Some of the...

The damper is pretty consistent. Damper fluid is designed to have consistent viscosity across a wide range of temperatures… that is the whole reason to have a special oil. Plus the fact that shim valves aren’t terribly sensitive to viscosity in the first place. I’ve run these experiments on a dyno FYI- small % changes at most. Air springs on the other hand gain noticeable pressure when hot. I’m always a bit skeptical when someone complains about their coil shock becoming a pogo stick due to heat. More than likely it’s you and your (weak, non-world cup) legs getting fatigued...

I hate how much tires cost and will complain every time I have to buy new ones, BUT, the reality is, when we're paying $130-150(cad) per tire, it would be like buying Michelin Cup 2 R's or or BFG Baja T/A KR3. Those are super high performance tires that are $1000+ each and made for Porsche's, Ferrari's and trophy trucks. And let's be honest, in the world of bikes, most of us are riding Porsche's, Ferrari's and trophy trucks. I still hate that we have to spend $130+ on tires.

Hard to describe other than it’s really good. The amount of support and damping it provides is unreal. I’ve already dropped from a 55lb/in to a 50lb/in spring and might even try a 45lb/in. Only using 2/3rds of the travel I was using with a heavily modified charger 2.1 in my Lyrik on my over-forked stumpy Evo. Even with using less travel it feels way less harsh in sustained chunk. Lots of grip everywhere.

Absolutely, but it’s on the other hand it does provide an insane amount of perch to play with control positioning. Some people love the short lever setup with shimano brakes. I hate it, I tolerated it because for the better part of 7 years dealing with shimano brakes was far better than suffering the garbage that sram was putting out...
Since the bleeding instructions on the site are from before the addition of the bite point adjuster, I have found that there are some tricks that help to get a good bleed. The adjuster needs to be in a specific position in order to get all the trapped air out. The only way that I have found that position is...
Very interested to hear about the 612's, very cool looking set of brakes! Have been getting some time on my Kaha's and really liking them, not a huge step up in power from my A4's but its there. The lever ergo is my favorite so far, the long blades allow me to run my controls inside of the lever but...

So one thing I've noticed on Hayes is that if you run your pads until they're done (1.75mm thick inc. backer plate), the free stroke gets longer. Doesn't matter if you rebleed (with bleed block), reseat pistons, etc., there's just a turning point somewhere where the pad thickness gets thin enough that the rollback makes the free stroke longer. Conversely when you put very thick fresh pads in, even with pistons fully retracted, the free stroke is shorter. It got me thinking, would running 2.3mm thick rotors help at the end of pad life situation? The alternative would be doing...

I'm not anti innovation, but I am pro choice. Having choices removed is a step backwards IMO.

Interesting, do you know how you would know, there are no SN’s on mine? The pair I got have the bite point adjustment, which is not shown on the site from what I can see… it’s kinda hard to tell how the revs are tracked. But thanks for the heads up I’ll keep an eye on that!
Just picked up a set of Radic Kaha’s after 2 years with Dominions and I wanted to post my initial impressions for anyone that might have these on their radar. FWIW I have, prior to the A4’s, been a Shimano fanboy for 10ish years? But I’ve been fortunate enough to have ridden some MT7’s and a few different versions of...
