Curmudgeon moment incoming, my apologies: This is exactly the reason I don't give a shit about motocross or cars or a million other things. I 100% don't give a shit about numbers. "Oh, but this one can do 150nm of power!" Cool. I don't care. I don't ride a bike looking for the easiest way to do anything. Does it do 150nm of making my will to live stronger? Will it do a 30-second boost mode of shutting my brain off? Is it 1300W of power that'll die in a year and completely brick the bike for two months while...

They can nip 10 mm from the front and put it in the back. The total bike length stays the same, ratio is also improved.

People either don't remember or never read the early interviews with CB. He said early on that the plan was always to fold it back under the UCI banner. He did it separately because the UCI wouldn't fund the experiment so he stepped out to do it on his own. As for EWS itself, they lost the thread. Yes, there has been a slowdown in the industry, but they got a little too big which forced sponsors to dedicate more and more resources. We went from factory riders having limited support to full pit setups with 2-4 mechanics on site...

Think this is what attracted us: seeing remote places with dream trails… Mexico, Rotorua, Madeira, and so many others. "PLACES EWS was a holiday agency with ads for bike holiday destinations and for new Enduro-related bike tech, with some racing involved. They then sold it not to a travel company, but to a TV company." And the coverage was great — done by riders on their social media pages, Pinkbike and Vital, with world-leading photographers all present, bike checks, raw videos, etc. It was pure and real. With Discovery and the media restrictions, all that was taken away, and the...

I'm 197 cm and got a large Madonna and I have set it up with the high bb shock mount and long chainstay option. it's been great, but now I haven't ridden for two months, since I dislocated my shoulder trying to go faster than I should have on a blown out track. This is the first enduro bike I've...

I'm sorry, I can't help it: An impact that " forces the rear wheel to rotate forwards" is the same thing as an impact that " deals with chain growth by rotating the pedals backward or stiffening the suspension." In the above diagram, the red force is the impact at the rear wheel. As the rear wheel is being held back by the red impact force, the rear center is growing, which is creating chain tension, which also stiffens the suspension. The suspension can't compress and absorb the bump until the increasing chain tension is relieved, and the chain tension...

I'll be straight with you, a lot of the explanations don't make any sense. They kind of give me turbo encabulator vibes. It's impossible to have chain growth and no pedal kickback. The chain tension is always resolved by your feet. No way around that. Whether or not your cranks get rotated by that chain tension or the rear wheel gets rotated forwards depends on whether or not your feet can react that chain tension entirely.

In my experience there are few things more difficult for a person (especially men) then to open yourself up and discuss your insecurities. But I can assure you that most people out there have been struggling in the post Covid world and really since the financial crash of 07. Some small wins and a lot of disappointment could sum up my career and countless friends and family. And I think both myself and team robot put a lot of the blame for that fact on people like yt’s management team. CEOs and Cvos and cfos who use the data not...

Is it a derailment of the thread if I mention how much I hate our patent system, both in the US and internationally? I've heard the pro-side of the arguement, but its aways presented as a given with no data. "But it helps the little guy" the vast majorities of patents are held by large firms, not small ones. "Patents protect you against predatory companies" it seems to me patents are wielded by companies who typically have more lawyers than engineers. "Patents are the only way to protect your ideas" patent law is enforced by judges who are not engineers...
