I imagine that the $400k goes pretty quick when you consider all the flights, hotels, food, transportation rentals, entry fees, etc. Then there are salaries paid to a lot more than just the riders, there's the mechanics and manager too. Back in 2022 it was $12,000 for team entry, but I'm not sure if that includes costs for each event or not. If I had to guess, they probably spend somewhere close to $8k-$10k per event, not including salaries.

Hopefully this means Kyle Strait has found a frame sponsor after being collateral damage due to the CRC wiggle debacle.

Something I learned this year was how difficult the timing is - a few things I never considered. Not all of a rider's sponsors line up to end on the same date. Can't takea pic in your new TL kit if Alpine was doing your old and you are still under contract for them...so multiply that my all the support a team has for the existing and new riders. Then, once all that is finally squared, the logistics of an announcement have to match up...got to plan the photo, video, place...hope it's not raining etc. Here is a big one...

If Hart and Brook get lucky, they will end up with bonus intensive contracts and maybe a $15k salary with how late in the cycle things are. Most big names get their offers before the end of the previous season.

Hart is probably going to get a deal paying $70k-100k/yr. ...In 2021/early 2022 he probably could have got $175k+ when the market was flush with cash. Brook will probably be in that $40k-70k range with whoever he signs with, if he gets on a program. Katy probably not getting a salary anywhere if she signs. Likely will get bikes/race fees and some travel paid.

Honestly, feels like we got them quicker than usual this year. A few years ago feels like we didn’t get a bunch of them till UCI released the teams in like March. Feel like enhancing pretty much everything wrapped up by end of January is ahead of schedule for most years. with social media being such a big part of all these brands marketing now days, keeping their riders off social media for more than a couple weeks feels like they are just cutting into the value of what they are paying their athletes.

Am I the only one who thinks waiting so long to announce this stuff has actually kind of taken the excitement out of it? I was pretty pumped after the new years but the excitement has kind of wore off now.
