Hello brake nerds. I subjected my partner and best friend to a year of brake swaps to get their opinions. We made a low production value video talking about our thoughts. I would also like to contribute some brake info because I actually took the time to disassemble and measure the master cylinder diameters. Really interesting how different the Lewis and Hayes feel with identical hydraulic specs. Lever geometry, leverage curve, return spring rate, seal friction, and pad compound all add up. Also I feel like formula would make a few running changes and be competing with the top dogs...

current speculation on MTBR is that the Mega and Nomad will be merged into one model with a flip chip to convert between mullet and 29. Makes me kinda sad to see the Megatower nameplate die as an owner of gen 1 and 2. I want to add to the Transition quality discussion: they have some of the worst paint I have ever seen on any bicycle, ever (worked in a shop for 6 years). Absolutely terrible. I like a lot of what their brand does but dang, get better paint please.

Half degree slacker-65.5 with 130mm travel up front as standard, 625mm stack on medium, 1 degree steeper SA, guided cables, snacklebox or some such thing, 2 bottles on a medium, and hear me out, flip chip to run it as a mullet .....and lets throw in a reasonable price if we are making a wish list...

Figured I'd share my new Levo SL since I got it built up in time for my up coming trips. Longggg back story: I rode an alloy Stumpjumper 15 the past year that weighed between 37.5-40.5 lbs depending on parts. It definitely made me stronger haha but overall I loved how hard I could ride the bike and still pedal it without blowing myself up. This fall, I kept showing up to group rides being the only one not on an e-bike. It was exhausting to keep up, and I realized I really needed an e-bike. But I love the...

🚨 wall of text incoming 🚨 There's so much riding in California. To narrow it down, here's some coastal riding areas, as in, "you can see the coast from the riding area". What bike(s) are you bringing and what kind of trails do you like? From south -> north, excluding SD and Orange Country because there's a ton to ride in just those areas alone: The Santa Monica mountains have a lot to offer, basically all of it is on Trailforks. It's a very large area and it's easy to link up trails, so you can go for some really...

Maxxis Digestor Maxxis Denominator Maxxis Minotaur Maxxis Mennonite Maxxis Legal Retainer Maxxis Domesticator And my personal vote: the Maxxis HRDHRMX3 Classic I also hope the sidewall tech on the new batch of Maxxis tires in 2026 brings with them an exciting new three letter acronym too, like SDC (Super Defense Casing), so I can run the Maxxis HRDHRMX3 Classic SDC 29x2.5 3C MaxxGrip as a front tire and save the Maxxis DHR2 DH 29x2.4 3C MaxxTerra as a rear tire. But that's just me.

You need the nice bleed kit with the glass syringes and make sure those plunger seals are in great shape, if not then you're screwed. Having used both the shitty plastic ones and the nice glass syringes in the pro bleed kit it makes a huge difference in the degassing step. The plastic syringes just don't hold the vacuum you need to degass the maxima mineral oil they use. Do NOT push fluid up through the caliper to the lever, as there's usually a bubble that gets formed when you put on the bleeding edge connector. As it says in...

This is a great idea! I figure I'd give it a go. 1.) TransBC 6 Day enduro. What an amazing event and personal accomplishment for me. This is a race I've wanted to do ever since I watched it roll through Revelstoke in 2017, and getting the chance to be a part of it was a truly special experience. I could go on and on about just how cool it is to get to spend 6 days with no other responsibilities besides trying to ride your bike blind as fast as you can across some of the rowdiest trails. I...

You're very entitled to your own opinion, but I didn't hear the same contradictions you did. I've re-listened multiple times this morning and I still can't hear it the way you have. I heard Markus say they knew they were facing tough times but weren't expecting the PE firm to get to a point where they aren't willing to inject cash. The Fire Sale was an effort to get through that specific period without having to ask for more cash. That failed and then they were told 'no more'. As for your previous point, it's not exactly clear to me...

Well, call me a moron, but this 6’ 1” large frame riding person is going to buy this totally unrideable bike. I look forward to looping out, my front wheel washing on every turn, lack of stability over 8 mph, and curling up in the fetal position in the middle of every ride. I’ll report back.
