Atherton Bikes posted some gearbox bikes recently too, right? What if they supported two teams, one with traditional drivetrains and one with gearboxes?

The dream is that one day all discussion in this thread will be de facto banned due to virtually every bike-related topic being relegated elsewhere.

Your economy doesn't need to be turned around. It's the most successful in the world by an insane margin. Americans are so much richer than the rest of the world it's nuts. Your problems are lack of social policy, not lack of economic activity. From The Economists reporting China themselves are getting annoyed at the offshoring of their companies to skirt tariffs as well, as it means no manufacturing jobs for the Chinese workers and instead the factory owners get richer by setting up new factories in Vietnam etc. They're predicting a mild crackdown on it in the new year...

It's certainly not widely publicized, but anyone who's spent a good amount of time in product management, engineering, or sales for bike or OE-specced component brands knows the big players, at least on the assembly side (there are frame factories then there's assembly factories, as well as factories that do both). Some times you'll see these names referenced in trade...

I agree. And for many of those reasons, I thought it made the most sense to make GT the D2C MTB brand of the PON portfolio – an "American YT" if you will. It was very surprising to me when they went literally the opposite direction in 2022. Not trying to "Monday morning quarterback" the situation, it just seemed the...

Oh yeah I also mean to talk about adjusters vs reshimming - you should always exhaust the full range of the adjusters you have first, which comes after bracketing your spring rates/air pressures. A lot of people get led down the wrong path of making some assumption with spring rate and volume spacers (ie soft spring + too many tokens or vise versa) so if its too soft they will never get the damper rebounding fast enough and think they need a faster rebound tune, or maybe stiffer compression tune. Where if the spring was set better you might not...

I won't spill the tea, but ten minutes of Googling and following the breadcrumbs relating to "OG Bikeworks" yields some pretty intriguing stuff – interesting previous employers, patents, failed Kickstarters, etc. In any case, wireless dropper conversions seem like a good idea. I hope a dialed implementation of the concept comes to market.

Good point! I have that same damper in my Lyrik Ultimate and also did not use a crush washer. (I am very impressed w/ the damper too, SO much better than the Charger 3.0 I had in there).

This pedal is one of those ideas that seemingly makes obvious sense – it's incredibly baffling that it hasn't been done. I wonder if there'd be advantages to a clipless implementation. 🤔

Just to comment on the potential for tariffs (leaving all the other political stuff at the door) - its largely bad for those of us in the United States who ride bikes. In fact, considering how many bike brands are based here, its bad for everyone. I wish I could point to some redeeming factor, but I honestly can't think of one. Bikes are incredibly global, and the idea that we'll just onshore everything to reward American labor, ingenuity and manufacturing is not based in any kind of 2024 reality for reasons I'll leave aside for now. My hope is...

It should also be mentioned that there will be retaliatory tariffs imposed by other countries. So, your reward for already making products here? Now, they'll be harder to sell elsewhere. Yay. Then there are tariff exclusions or exemptions, which can be freely given to companies friendly to the administration. Smaller businesses or those without political connections may get stuck with...
