Just to comment on the potential for tariffs (leaving all the other political stuff at the door) - its largely bad for those of us in the United States who ride bikes. In fact, considering how many bike brands are based here, its bad for everyone. I wish I could point to some redeeming factor, but I honestly can't think of one. Bikes are incredibly global, and the idea that we'll just onshore everything to reward American labor, ingenuity and manufacturing is not based in any kind of 2024 reality for reasons I'll leave aside for now. My hope is...

It should also be mentioned that there will be retaliatory tariffs imposed by other countries. So, your reward for already making products here? Now, they'll be harder to sell elsewhere. Yay. Then there are tariff exclusions or exemptions, which can be freely given to companies friendly to the administration. Smaller businesses or those without political connections may get stuck with...

oh wow, theres probably only 2 people who I would genuinely be offended by getting confused with so I must have phrased that post very poorly sorry....I thought the fact I still acknowledged a good reason why the plot would use sag would be the biggest giveaway? @ebruner your hat is safe!

Yeah, I was just saying the bike brands. A significant portion of their revenue must also be their bike services companies, which do things like lease bikes, offer bikes and ebikes via subscription, and offer AAA-style bicycle roadside repair services.

How about 2.6 million bicycles in 2023? Pon owns Caloi, Cannondale, Cervélo, FOCUS, Gazelle, GT, Kalkhoff, Mongoose, Santa Cruz, Schwinn, Urban Arrow, Public, and Veloretti bicycle brands.

Dougal, I know you are not a believer in sag as a primary set up tool, but I disagree with you. They did it right by normalizing around the same base sag number, imo. Good to see you around D.

if @TheSuspensionLabNZ is Dougal, I'm going to eat my helmet. There is no way the same thoughtful, approachable, nice, knowledgable person that posts here is the same knowledgable troll that posts elsewhere.

Isn't Suspension Lab NZ Jonno that stopped posting in the MTBR Suspension Forum after banging his head against the desk 10 thousand times arguing with Dougal?

Are these "worn out in less than 200 miles" XTR cassettes in the room with us right now? They can creak, especially he earliest ones, but I've put thousands of miles on these and don't find they wear differently than any other cassette.

Yeah I had a +5mm reach headset from Works like this (EC44/EC56) and while it technically did extend reach by 5mm, you effectively lose some of that with the added stack from going to EC cups from ZS cups. I guess what it really does is slacken headangle without losing reach (from baseline).

From when the 2019 Boxxer came out: "Last year a number of RockShox's athletes raced on what was referred to internally as the 'Lyxxer' – a Boxxer that was running 29” Lyrik lowers. And yes, that means some of the hardest chargers in the world were racing with a 15mm thru-axle. In fact, there were serious discussions about using a...

Sadly they never made a grip2(original) compresion assy for the 38 chassis (and even the 36 version is unobtainable) I spent quite a lot of time trying to find one of thoose to build a grip1/grip2 hybrid) I'm not a fast rider, but I cannot ride with as light compression as most of the forks offer. At some point I almost quit riding, thinking I forgot how to ride (only to start riding a rigid forked singlespeed and kind of realizing what was happening) My current trail bike has a fox 36 with a hacked grip 1 damper with much...

Interesting how perspectives have changed in 5 years, see this thread from 2019. If you read through that keep in mind Grip2 dampers from that era had significantly more damping than the Grip2 VVC damper released later. Also, the debate about damping vs. spring is kinda weird if you think about it, because you can have a good spring and...

I own a fox 38 chassis (well, there is a fit4 dampener in there, I dont know why as this is no xc fork) I would like to build a new bike around that fork next year, trying to decide between grip x2 or MRP Lift, I suppose I will end up getting some feedback from this topic, so I will keep an eye here
