8/15/2024 10:40am Convinced me to put my O-chain back on for Whistler next month. My only worry is it'll be annoying for trail days.

8/7/2024 3:52pm Having run plenty of demo days I'd say it's about 30% just having a go on an expensive bike for free, 20% just telling you what is wrong with the bike, 20% "just confirming that my bike IS better", 20% "I'm thinking of replacing my 2011 bike in the next 3-5 years" , 9% having one of the bikes on a shortlist but "I'm going to buy whatever I get the best deal on" and 1% actually going on to buy something from the demo. A couple a year was more than enough to never want to do it again.

7/15/2024 1:34pm Few things I felt compelled to share... 1) Objective measurement is largely lacking in suspension tuning and testing. Yes, the big guys all have/use them and I know its expensive but a suspension dyno is a tool that is *so* needed to confirm/disprove a hypothesis or show why something may be a certain way. I know they have limitations, too, but without showing what a tune/change/knob fiddling does across a test battery, its pretty hard to talk about this stuff. 2) A lot of this is largely academic. Its cool, and #nerdsunit but I don't need to know why something...

6/20/2024 3:57pm They should sell these in limited quantities and call them the S-Works Stumpjumper Ultimate – a throwback to their OG lugged carbon bike the S-Works Epic Ultimate. I imagine there's a market for these even if they were a $9,999 frameset.

6/14/2024 1:08pm There are quite a few user reviews now in this MTBR thread (that links to page three, there are nine more pages of reviews and discussion after). Simonetti has one for review. We have them out for review at a number of other outlets too.

5/30/2024 8:20am I think the latest purchase was just IP – so just the brand names, domains, etc. Whereas earlier purchases were for the whole business. But yeah, I think Signa bought it for an ungodly amount of money, operated at a loss for the last few years, and sold it for pennies. I was looking online at used Sprinter vans recently...

5/14/2024 9:22am This probably deserves its own thread (Spomer, feel free to delete this and make one with this post), but enduro style racing has two different points of demand, racers and spectators. Sometimes these two "customers" or "users" will want the same thing, sometimes they will not, but ultimately I'd argue they are two very different points of consumption. This thread is muddling the two together, which makes it hard to debate. Making enduro interesting to me as a racer means I'm going to write a lot about what I want to see at the regional/national level. I'm not racing EDR/EWS...

5/4/2024 5:19pm I think it's a workaround for the relatively high levels of anti-squat on the new model. I was surprised to read the press release and how high the AS is on the new bike, but they also open their copy by talking about how their goal wasn't to make the fastest race bike, but something more versatile. I thought that was odd, but maybe YT made a conscious choice to subordinate their team riders desires for a more pedal-able, "poppy" bike for general population bike park use. YT riders have been using Ochain for a long time, and this idler...

5/4/2024 4:30pm https://www.bicycleretailer.com/industry-news/2024/04/30/enve-gm-says-b… The new env owner apparently is a newly minted/self made billionare from the company he founded who lives 20 minutes away, owns two of their bikes and whose son had a summer job building wheels there. Honestly sounds like the best buyer they could hope for. It also seems like its not a crazy time to be investing in US manufacturing.
