10/12/2025 5:56pm Good to see my comment’s super popular, lol. There’s obviously nuance here. As I tried to say (but I think a lot missed), I’ll always be a fan of Loic, and yeah, health comes before showmanship. If his leg was showing signs of compartment syndrome, heading straight to the hospital was obviously the right call. I’ve had it. It’s gnarly. My take was based on the assumption Loic was still thinking about racing. He was, after all, at the top putting pressure on Jackson to risk his life down the hill, hoping for a mistake. In the moment it felt...

10/10/2025 12:12pm the American riders showing up again, cool to see Gwin, Norton, and especiall Shaw in on round one with good times. I bet Finn is feeling some pressure after his fast timed training run.

10/10/2025 8:01am PE bros need ski boots that fit well, and don't understand that not everyone wants to spend 1+ grand on new ski boots and fitting... These PE investments are so funny, has no one every talked with the bro working at the shop or the hand that's worked at the small bike park? Unless that bro has hit his head...

10/9/2025 2:34pm this is the (V)Anzac spirit in full force. You the man Mic! For those wondering, ANZAC is Australian New Zealand Army Corps which was derived in WW1 as we fought together, it is a spirit of brotherhood despite not knowing the other person but having a common goal. It warms the cockles of my heart knowing the spirit remains strong.

10/9/2025 9:19am Also saw this last night: https://www.bicycleretailer.com/industry-news/2025/10/08/peopleforbikes… Didn't have a bike industry pro-tariff stance in the cards. Protectionism at it's best- save one company for the industry to crater.

10/9/2025 9:17am Ooooo, finally something in the thread a professional association says I'm qualified to comment on! This is a misconception. Whistler Blackcomb, like most ski resorts in British Columbia, are for the most part, on unsurveyed Crown land. Bits and pieces are surveyed, typically where buildings exist, and there's a bunch of statutory right of ways registered on it (with confusing descriptions because, well, unsurveyed), but like 99% of the resort is provincial land. Whistler Blackcomb has stronger property rights and than other resorts because their tenure is a lease which gives them similar (but not quite as strong) rights to...

10/9/2025 9:15am This marks an interesting shift in the thread, from product to experience. One of the most fascinating things about bikes is that the experience itself is (usually) free. You find a trail, ride it, and that’s it. That dynamic underpins the entire culture of cycling and, using some very special “boy math,” justifies spending far more on bikes each year than logic might otherwise allow. (ask me if you need help in this category lol) Personally, I haven’t ridden in a bike park in years, outside of races. But this thread pushed me to build a quick model to see...

10/8/2025 4:09pm Yes, I hate Vail resorts too, but you've touched on about 1000 different topics with the pricing of the epic pass, and I think this is a case of prices needing to rise to match market demand. For instance, Spomer posted this excellent video journalism on the Epic Pass in March of this year: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0bfD4NiiMfo&t=410s The cost of the epic pass has been way, away, way too low for years, which led to an absolute stampede on local resorts by out-of-towners during Covid whenever snow was good (or even okay). The Covid ski years were terrible in terms of traffic...

10/8/2025 4:07pm What was the part number for the new brake pads that were compatible with the old 4-piston XTs? supposed to not rattle as much or something? Can't find a definitive answer

10/8/2025 4:05pm After the nuclear winter there will be a cockroach riding a bike with 8120 brakes on it. They are perhaps characterised by the fact that they’re not outstanding anywhere, but they’re good enough almost everywhere and will stay that way after the fluid has turned to tooth paste. There are plenty of better stock brakes, but few as robust. Sure there have been occasional runs with bad pistons but the reason people remember that is it’s been so rare an exception to the reliability.

10/7/2025 3:46pm Only issues with Old XT is the leaking or cracking of pistons. Some people complain about the rattling noise, but I didn't find it too bad. What I like is they are not fussy brakes, they are a work horse for the most part. I personally like the on/off feel I haven't ridden the new XT's, but have ridden the...

10/7/2025 7:25am 2.2 is a mega step up in performance IMO. The saddles take a little longer to find to sweet spot than tradition ones, but once you find it's way better.

10/6/2025 9:59am I caught the podcast today and thought it was one of the best I've listened to in a while, very informative and I appreciated the discussion. I'm not in the bike industry but I am a bike geek who works with municipal governments on capital projects and I spend a lot of time analyzing how organizations make decisions and the parallels regardless of industry are undeniable. I am amazed that anything gets built and I'm always pretty sure shit is going to start to fail at any minute. 😅
