I think for making something "bigger" you have a couple options. But it depends what you want to "make longer". Do you want to increase your seated position because you feel cramped, your standing position when descending, or your wheelbase for more stability. I.e. what feels small? I think it would be good to know if it is an XL or L. Measuring the seat tube should tell you. if its close or less than 18" its a L and if it s 19" its a XL. Also, do you have a 160 or 170mm fork? The soft engagement is equivalent to about 2 degrees. I found it frustrating when people described it as almost instant with no figures specced by Onyx and went and found an academic paper where a guy had done the calcs on sprag engagement.. 2 degrees is as damn close to instant as you'll ever want or need though!

Anyone suggesting a company can't make a light enough XC bike out of aluminum I'd suggest you open the history books. There were a myriad of light alloy XC FS bike back in the day. If you take modern manufacturing techniques, some sort of flex-stay design (which you can do with alloy) and be really careful with tubing/hardware/etc, you could come out with a bike that is probably 0.75lbs heavier than a fancy carbon variant. Built properly, it'd still be light enough to be a contender.

Check the rampage injury list since 2015. It’s gone down tremendously, and the scale/exposure has gotten way gnarlier. It seems lost on some here that the riders at Hardline are there because they want to be. None of them are being compelled to do anything they don't want to. Watch the vlogs available, they're stoked. If someone (such as Kolb) decides it's too much no one is throwing shade on them, their decisions are respected. If a feature is deemed unsafe it's immediately altered (which doesn't always happen at WCDH races). I think one of the most dangerous trends we're seeing are these quasi-mullet haircuts so many of these fellas are sporting. Sets a really bad example for the impressionable kids. At least the French brigade and their trash-stache's aren't here and making this really inappropriate for children's eyes.

Compared to those groomed freeride and big air slope events, the impression I got from watching the latest Hardline RAW was that it was a challenge even maintaining enough speed between jumps. At least at many of the air events the run-ups are generous.

Schroeder, so here is the thing with HardLine. The guys at it...the format appeals to them. Bruni, Vergier, Gwi & several other World Cuppers...they are 100% DH racers in style, form and mentality. The format isn't as much of a life/death risk to the crew at this event. They have the mentality that suits the features of this track. You & I are viewing it through a different perspective. The guys at this event are the risk takers of the sport whether this event existed or not. They'd be out someplace else hunting this same rush if they weren't at...
