So many comments recently with people being overly pedantic about reach numbers. (Not just here). 10mm is literally nothing. Swap a 50mm and 40mm stem , get narrower or wider bars, try a different back sweep. Get thinner or thicker grips, bar roll stem spacers, adjust your cleat position etc. H ell, the hand position difference between single collar lock on grips and double collar probably changes your torso position as much. Reach is just one aspect of bike fit. Writing something off because the reach isn't exactly a perceived magic number by 10mm without trying it is very close...

Seems like the lever has a bit of a breakaway feel to get the swing link to move kind of like Shimano. Once the lever is engaged though, the perceived feel is pretty light since there is a ridiculous amount of power on tap. It kind of reminds me of a Hope Tech 3 if you’ve ever experienced those. I personally think they feel this way because- They want the lever to be really durable, The firm feel keeps down the accidental panic breaking The seals are stiff and so is the spring. I installed a pair and didn’t notice...

It was already mentioned, light lever pull, power, pad clearance. Pick two. Negating light lever pull gives you the option of a progressive linkage which gives power and pad clearance. A light lever throw will mean you either get pad clearance and low power or tight pads (rotors rubbing) and high power. As for why not the brakes you mentioned, as for me, Codes seem powerful enough for me, are easy to maintain, don't need bleeds, pads are cheap (original metallic ones) and last a while and have good modulation. I like modulation. I might be trying out a set...

Wait, the idea is that a stiffer lever pull in the dead stroke will cause more arm pump? I'll take a stiffer lever through the dead stroke if that means more power and more pad clearance. I'm a notorious brake dragger and I've run Code RSCs for 5 years now (and Guide RS before them for another 4 years) and never had arm pump. Never had arm pump in general, that's also worth mentioning, but it doesn't seem like the brakes are a factor. I've had problems holding onto the bike in bike parks (Leogang/Saalbach mid-september, it was washboarded to...

I have had the clawed out feeling you describe, I was also able to fix it by looking at my suspension instead of brakes. Also, working on finger strength goes a long way. Seems like many of the complaints about the Maven seem to be made on two sides of the same mouth.

Hear what you're saying but I respectfully disagree that the widespread adoption of public kinematic graphs has been a net negative impact on MTB or even on brands. Yes, there are tons of people who suffer from confirmation bias while bike shopping or bike testing. Most people, in fact. But I think public kinematic graphs have helped make bike design better. Suspension designs are converging in a big way in the last five or so years, corresponding to the same timeframe when graphs have become widespread in product launches. We're mostly in agreement that wild curves in a kinematic graph...

I hope they're a bit more transparent and release the suspension data/graphs with this frame. Pretty disappointing with their DW6 bikes for the price they cost they don't release the leverage graphs etc.

I've had the old Code RSC's and the new Stealth Code brakes, and Stealths are way stronger. Apparently the swinglink is different from what I was told. I have the Mavens as well but haven't tried them on a trail yet but any arm fatigue I get is on steep trails. People must have super weak arms if they get tired on flow trails. You'll get stronger arms if you youtubers pick up a shovel once in awhile as well. #nodigjustride

Can we get past the idea that everything has to be the same, but also different. Look, if its not for you, its not for you, but could be for others. I have XT's, Code RSC's, and have spent time on TRP DH EVO's. I prefer the RSC's full stop (pun intended, but only after proof reading) I do not want the light lever feel of TRP's or XT's. I find them vague, and prefer the required force to pull RSC's Some people like different things, so lets stop lamenting that SRAM didnt make a brake for YOU, but instead...

Wow, struggled to make it through that. This is my first DS video, and seems like internet clickbait to me. My thoughts -Obviously SRAM doesnt want you using Shimano rotors, does this need any further explanation other than this appeared to be a prevailing attitude throughout the video. -These arent designed for intermediate or beginner riders, full stop. Its a peak performance product, designed with heavy use gravity riders in mind. As noted by the Extreme Duty++++ designation, so lets assume that Dale at 110lbs isnt the target market -Why wouldnt you test all the options made available, or even...

Tha combined with the mounting a shifter issue... when he is using a matchmaker brake clamp backwards with an i-spec shifter.... how about mount the shifter to the clamp the brake has, or use a lower profile clamp in the correct direction... everything about that was a mess

HA! Or that... I had a feeling he was going off the rails when his first move was to pair the Mavens with XTR rotors. He should have read the manual instead.

There’s also the incredibly likely chance this random Youtuber is going out of his way to find anything remotely negative about a product that has generally favorable reviews solely to generate clicks.

I work with a digital shock pump on a daily basis, and I am very frequently frustrated by the lack of an Abbey-level equivalent to the garbage that seems to come from the same factory, with different suspension manufacturer’s names poorly printed on the head. At the same time, I am constantly reminded of the question Spomer asked Jordi on his episode of The Inside Line: “Have you ever attached a FitBit to your shock pump?”. It seems ludicrous to me (and to Jordi also, it appears) that I should have to inflate a CAD$1300 fork with a $60 steam-punk...

Anyone else interested in the Maven Ultimate package because of the extra rotors/pads/bleed kit thrown in, but turned off from the red paint job? I wonder if they will sell the ultimate kit in black soon.
