Transmission, it's weaknesses, and "solutions" for those weaknesses all seem kind of insane to me. Hey we have this little uvula looking thing on the back of frames which the derailleur attaches to. Usually, derailleurs aren't that expensive these days but just in case, it's meant to bend instead of allowing the derailleur to break. Because our frame is made of steel, we can usually just bend it back for free! How nice! Since we moved on to alloy/carbon, we had to make the hanger its own item. We went with aluminum alloy so it's stiff and light, but if...

If you're wanting to buy a new XC or downcountry bike, definitely do it. You'll have a blast. But first, do me a favor and borrow someone's XC or downcountry wheels with tires mounted and swap your rotors over so you can try your Nomad with faster rolling tires and your rear shock locked out. It'll blow your mind how much more fun those now-boring trails are. I just have the one long travel bike (SC Megatower, like you) and with two wheelsets I'm able to have fun anywhere. Obviously I'd rather have a dedicated short travel bike but I'm...

New Bronson: - Somehow poking an extra hole in the frame isn't suddenly too hard/costly! "Premium" wireless only for the top end frame only where it belongs. - Solid build kit with OneUp bars/dropper and DT 370 hubs you'd actually want. - Lifetime warranty wheels on all builds (even alloys have the lifetime warranty and I've had friends successfully warranty bent ones) + solid SC frame/bearing warranty - $5K entry level build. No price increases from what I can see? (CC frame still $3,900) If that study Trek did that showed that SC blows everyone out of the water above...

i'd love to hear a podcast with an explanation behind every stupid solution they adopted on their bikes, especially with an interviewer that tries to talk some sense into them

Back in the 90’s, I cracked a Specialized M2 frame. Sent it back to Spesh, and they sent me a new frame…I did have to pay shipping: $4. I cracked a couple aluminum Intense frames, many years ago. The first one was warrantied several times, then I had to go thru a dealer for warranty…not good; I ended up with a crash replacement; fair enough…then that frame cracked, and I got the cold shoulder from the dealer and Intense. A little time went by and I contacted Intense again; this time I got ahold of Sam Wilson, he took care...

My warranty experience was not to recent, but it was great. It was during the pandemic 2021. I had a SC 2018 Nomad that had a small crack in the inside of the rear triangle that i found when i was cleaning it. no idea how it happened. I think it was a rock strike, anyhow SC asked for proof of purchased and a lot of pictures. After a couple of days they approved warranty, because they no longer had any 2017 V4 Nomads rear Triangles; they offer a 2022 V5 Nomad which I was very happy to get. Over...

Curious what y'all know about the new Specialized tires with tire dampening technology. Is that like a mud conditions tire for wet terrain? Or is it a dry tire, but it dampens the dirt so it becomes wet and tacky?

Not really a tech rumor, but other site has the AL Dirtlove release out. Nothing special on that frame, adjustable dropouts, drilling for a gyro, the built in crankstop is interesting. $1400 for the top spec is really good though. Marin's Alcatraz has a similar spec to the Core 1 for $500 more. Big S has the same spec as the Core 2 for $700 more. I bet they're gonna sell a good amount of these.

Just to echo this, there's a reason King hubs are used on nearly every tandem build. I've personally broken both Hydras and Torches, but I've never seen a King broken and worked at a bike shop (King dealer) for 5 years

Pretty much every bike shop I've seen in the UK will have metal waste bins, separate from the general waste. This is then taken off to be separated into different metals and recycled. Scrap metal is worth money.
