I was just down in Bentonville, and I saw these riders . They told me that UCI now has a rainbow jersey for them (after they go to DeVeLoPmEnT cAmP) and they are hoping for 2024 Olympics.

Pretty much in-line with going consumer direct and then raising all the prices. Speshy lives for screwing people over and making more $ in the process.

Oh yes, 3200euros for mass produced alu dh frame with ticking time bomb of a shock? All it lacks now is headset cable routing for the full package.

Interestingly, Sram filed a new patent to move the derailleur battery inside the rear axle with a small wire coming out of the axle and into the rear derailleur. They also have a separate patent talking about integrating a power meter into the rear axle. https://patents.justia.com/patent/11511826

good question @ebruner. i actually have no idea how it works on the industry side. we knew orbea, giant and commencal were coming out today (anywhere from a few weeks to a week notice), and we got a generic PR email from scott last night at 130am about the lumen. the tip in this forum about "scott ebike on dec 1" was all we knew until that email dropped LOL. we don't tell brands about other launch dates (we're too busy w/ our own work), but i'm sure it can happen. not sure it would matter for big brands though...

He'll be on his own program next season. He will be running PRIME frames - The owner was previously his mechanic for years before leaving the circuit to have a go at creating his own frame brand.

But Vital isn't social media. It's the comfy armchairs in the corner of the living room part of the internet where you can have honest to god debates!

I’ve enjoyed the more progressive bikes I’ve owned over the years. I think not hitting the bottom out bumper is always nice and having a bike that is easy to generate speed on makes for a very fun ride too. Where I think highly progressive bikes can suffer is in high frequency chatter if the leverage curve is too steep. The rear end tends to feel unsettled in those situations and it takes a lot of strength to hold a line. I have had equally as terrible of experiences with overly linear bikes where I am constantly bottoming or blowing...

Is it expensive? Yes. Does it check just about every box for someone living close to a feature-packed urban trail system (i.e. Bentonville, Knoxville, Boise….)? Also yes. Not too conservative, not too aggressive. Jumps and corners well. Makes a lot of sense for a lot of people who just want to have fun on their home trails.

What I think is interesting is how binary we're making this out to be. Its kind of becoming tribal. On one hand its not Vital's job to "control the underlying pricing in the market" (this also shows a really poor understanding of markets). On the other hand, it seems silly to pretend as though pricing is somehow not a significant part of the decision process when a rider is weighing what bike they should buy. As many people have pointed out, Yeti isn't offering a great value on their money. You are paying a premium for a combination of the...

tried listening to the podcast on the other site where they had thurston on, had to switch off after 20 minutes because that guy is such an insufferable and unlikeable piece of shit too bad about CT, while I’m not really following road racing I liked to read it for the tech nerdery and widening my bike horizon a bit.

cyclingtips layoff chaos followed by loads of canceled subs (according to comments). sucks for those who got the axe as that community seemed to really value what they did. https://forum.cyclingtips.com/t/laid-off-caley-fretz-dave-rome-matt-de-… "Today Caley Fretz, Dave Rome, Matt de Neef and Daniel Benson (Editor-in-Chief of VN) were let go. Plus lots of other staff (including Steve Brawley who has been with CT for years in sales) and others throughout the company. 12% in total. What a clusterfcuk OutsideInc is. That was discussed many times. You are buying a brand, not just a tool. Some people will want and pay for that, but for some, that is of no value. A good comparison would be Golf GTI and Hyundai N tuned car. Both probably very similar performance, but Golf is simply "legend" in that category while Hyundai brings the same technology at a lower price for the masses. Pick what is closer to your heart (and wallet). There is no need to over thinking it. Yeti does not aim to be Transition and Golf does not aim to be an...
