6/20/2024 9:12am Personally i see the point of man made features on an xc course. Looks good on tv. Separates the riders. It was interesting watching the dh guys at the latest dhse send the man made rock garden that was on the xc World Cup course. at the end of the day World Cup xc racing is exactly what happens when you need to film the event. The courses are designed to imitate xc riding in a race able format. And often the venues have to make do with what they got. Looks like the organizers squeezed every bit of elevation...

6/20/2024 9:09am The problem with these XC courses at the world cups is they give the elite riders way too much time to practice. Days of ripping laps and hours with line/technique coaches and such practicing the 4 hard sections. Really levels the playing field as riders with lower technical skill can be coached up over 2-3 days to ride the hard lines, etc. What would be great is if they got a course walk, then minimum on course practice and then race day. Giving the riders who have higher level of technical skill something to separate themselves on. You'd actually see...

What’s the difference between this and Bernard Kerr wearing a size small so it’s all skin tight?

Not too long ago, racers fought to change the rule to get out of skin suits. And here we are now slowly going back to them. The designer can say "it's not a skin suit..." till their blue in the face. But I'm not blind either. I'm personally not a fan of the design. But if a rider/racer wants to wear this. They should have the right too. But it's also sad that most DH riding kits are following this trend. Sorry Fox, I'm going to vote with my wallet and pass on this. Thank God Troy Lee Designs DH...

4/29/2024 10:49am If only a few details have changed from the actual Trick Stuff brakes, wouldn't that mean they probably work about the same and just look a bit different? While the similarities are undeniable, these seem like a really cool and affordable option so long as we don't see Intense Factory riders flying off the track or blowing up sets of brakes throughout the year, .

4/26/2024 8:25am I put Rapha in the same category as Kitsbow. I spend a lot of money on bike, I have no less than 6 bikes right now and enough frames and spare parts to build 5-6 more, I usually travel multiple times a year to ride, Pisgah, Kingdom Trails, Sedona, PNW, 10 day Icelandic mountain bike tour etc. All that to say, I spend a lot of money on mountain biking. But when it comes to clothes, I’m not super picky or bougie. I usually buy clothes when they are on sale or when I see something on the clearance rack...

4/25/2024 9:08am I’ve been on XC trails, dirt jumps, bike parks, big days out in high alpine and only my fitness has ever held me back. Long travel “down country” bikes want to be it and dual crown eaters wish they could be as nimble and easy to pedal. Alternatively, what do YOU think the GOAT mountain bikes are?

3/28/2024 10:16am I keep trying to avoid this thread for what it's become but somehow the takes are getting even worse. First of all, in the way you are arguing, yes the tricks specifically don't matter that much. In the show aspect. But it's still a competition with scoring and win bonuses for sponsors. So that's why it's relevant. If they want to turn it into a non-scored exhibition that's totally fine and I think the exact same kind of people would go for the exact same type of riding. People seemed plenty happy to watch the girls ride (at a level...

3/28/2024 10:14am I think some of the people here are a bit deluded about the level of skill of the top slopestyle riders. If you take the best guys, so that'll probably be these five: Emil Johansson, Dawid Godziek, Tim Bringer, Erik Fedko and Nicholi Rogatkin. Then choose their likely best trick: Emil Johansson with an opposite 360 windshield wiper. Spinning a 360 with his back foot leading the spin instead of normally with the front foot leading which is easier as that's which direction his hips would be facing and doing a tailwhip one way and then another tailwhip back in...

3/28/2024 10:12am They expected to get what they wanted by strong-arming the promoters. They felt that moment was the point where their leverage was the highest and they couldn't possibly cancel the show once everyone was there, tickets were sold, t-shirts were printed, and those big checks were already filled out. Someone has deep enough pockets to make it happen, right? Telling them 2 months before "we won't show if you don't meet these demands" gives the promoter time to say fine then, see you next year, book an alternative event, or cancel with significantly less consequence. They played their hand and...

3/28/2024 9:54am Oh man, I could beat this topic with a broken stick until it returned back to life. Rampage athletes get an appearance fee ever since 2015. Why not the slope guys? Most the slope guys dont actually make that much. I did Pretty good for 15 years. Id average probably 65K USD all said and done over those 15 years. Less when I started and the bigger years in the middle. That is sponsorships and winnings and any travel budgets. BUT I would spend at least 30k of that on traveling and expenses. So that 3k a month before taxes...

1/2/2024 10:25am Also In: - Truly size-specific geometry so every size has the same (ideally good) weight distribution between front and rear wheels. Forbidden bikes doing it right. - Rider weight specific stiffness/compliance: different carbon layups/tubing for different frame sizes. Riders weigh between 50 and 100+kg. We can't be serious about stiffness/compliance discussion until we don't address that. - Compliant carbon rims: major companies have stepped up. - Rims with thick blunt edges to prevent dents and pinchflats: Race Face, Ibis and Specialized are doing a good job. - Still in: usd forks Also Out: - Fake "proportional" sizing: having reach increase...
