Two thoughts: 1.) Kids e-bikes aren't a flooded segment (yet). So while expensive, the bike would likely hold its resale value pretty well. 2.) 1000% down with kids e-bikes. Outside of trying to produce future XC riders (not really the Vital way , getting kids to the top more often, and hitting more descents surely builds your descending skills faster. I pedal all the time now, but grew up pushing my downhill bike up hills. I can only imagine how my core skills would have progressed if I was logging more actual ride time.

Still needs more travel. Full power e-bikes should be at least 180/180, but preferably 200/200. And it should be available as a frameset.

I think that's fair. After doing this test, I'm going to keep thrashing my 2018 Commencal Absolut. I will say that the best part about these bikes is you can go in on a DJ, and 5 years later it'll be just as fun and will have required minimal maintenance. I can't say the same about any mountain bike I've ever owned.

Have always been on flats for the past ~20 years and been keen to try something "different" the last summer and struggled hard to finde a clip pedal that feels like you're actually standing solid on a pedal - and not twisting around on a 5 cent coin during a descent. Pedalling was always fine and I prefered the definitive mechanism of spd-styles like hope tc or dmr v-twin, but only felt good on a pair of mallet dh (albeit their somewhat vague interface). Started on the hope union gc pedals after I got over the extra bit of sticker shock. Wanted a large platform clip pedal, has the option to run traction pads (yet to try) or pins. The clip mechanism intrigued me, dual action like the cb, but adjustable like shimano. The stainless steel cleat with optional 4 or 5 degree float was a selling point.
