If you want to see the on trail effects of different pedal kick solutions, you should get some data acquisition for your rear suspension and ride a very repeatable section of trail. 11/25/2024 11:23pm Could you do an accelerometer on an ochain? Knowing the mass and radius of the chainring, you’d be able to calculate the peak force being applied from the chain with the peak acceleration of the chainring. You’d be able to convert that to force at the feet with crank length too.

10/20/2024 9:13pm I feel that heavy braking is the largest contributor/least discussed for pedal kick. The situation where you might be locking up the rear brake but still using a good amount of travel is the exact situation where you’d really want your suspension performing at its best

I thought it was funny and didn't read as insecure, but I'm debatably funny and/or insecure so probably not the best judge. Wild to see the same argument about scoring (creative vs. hucking) has been part of the event since the beginning. Knowing the background about how you could hear everyone's conversations across the whole venue makes the Litter cover art with all the talking bubbles that much funnier.

9/21/2024 5:28pm There is not much space for sustainability/environmentalism in a high consumption sport like mountain biking. As far as equipment goes, the most sustainable thing you can do is buy a bike that will last you more than a season or two, and avoid driving a lifted Tacoma to the trailhead.

If you watch the video, the integrated protection is part of the suit. They have integrated chest, back, and elbow protection as part of the under "jersey" thing. Honestly, the integrated protective jersey looks great, as the worst part of elbow pads is that they always slip down!

this might be true in an idealized state with no flex or deflection in the frame or pivots and the frame was built entirely square, but as soon as anything doesn't line up perfectly you get off axis loading.
