The 8-hour training actually makes perfect sense if you think about it. If you’re going to force a 12-year-old to commute electrically assisted/throttled in a 6-inch painted gutter next to 5,000lb distracted SUVs going 50mph, they probably need Stroad-warrior level tactical training. Why build a protected bike path for $1M when you can just blame the kids for not having a Ebike Safety Certificate while they dodge F-150s?

You are not wrong. If People For Bikes spent 1/4 as much advocating for safe routes to school as they did lobbying for Ebike access in skeptical communities, the shrinking American bicycle market might be expanding. Instead we seem laser focused on selling stuff to the same 10% of the population over and over again, each time with an extra battery or two.

I think you meant “kind of FUN geometry”. As a person who gets more than 100 bike park days a year, this is way more in line with how parkrats of all ages enjoy riding… ymmv

SRAM is more “innovative” by bringing new shiny things to market much faster than Shimano. But I’ve found over the years SRAM has brought some things to market a little too st at the expense of quality and warranty issues. Shimano on the other hand is slower to adapt and respond, but historically their execution is much better. Their new products typically (not always)have less issues associated with them.

Can we make a tech rumor forum fantasy league? I’ll make my picks based on who has the most prototype parts on the bike.

I've been to Primoz' neck of the woods and would like to add that: You should absolutely go to that neck of the woods to ride if you get a chance. Primoz raced cross country for years before switching to longer travel bikes, and was fitter than me when we rode together. He's a great host and I cannot recommend Bled Cream Cake enough. However, I would not recommend eating it right before a 87 F/31 C mountain bike ride with Primoz. Primoz, I'm still right about heavier tire casings and softer compound. Fight me.
