It’s essentially a method to overfill the master cyclinder slightly to create a shorter lever throw. Turning towards the “IN” arrow expands the volume of the master cylinder slightly. When the bleed procedure is complete, turning the pad contact back the opposite direction sort of pressurizes the line and advances the pistons sooner than if the system was bled at its lowest volume. I’ve done this with Codes for years and have found it to be beneficial on Mavens as well.

For me personally, Ive been on sram brakes for most of my life and they are the most familiar. Also, because of the pad contact adjustment I feel like I can get the lever to stop exactly where I want it to. Certainly a preference thing for anyone, but for me they are exactly what I like brakes to feel like when setup properly.

I read your final chart as the Maven winning because I prefer a quicker first touch to full power feeling over the Magura design. I have yet to feel how my Mavens run as I’ve had warranty issues since first building my bike in June till after the bike park closed. What little riding I’ve done pushing up at some jumps with fully working brakes they’ve been great. I’d prefer a shorter throw to pad contact but once it hits I have a very nice and solid lever with minimal additional movement. The people complaining about the force required to...

Yes, in one particular section where side loading was super heavy. This happened on pretty much every brake. The exceptions were the MT7, which remained consistent, and the Dominions which had a very minimal change.

Agreed, I would like a longer chainstay as well but the shorter rear end did work well on really steep stuff atleast. They spec Galfer rotors for the purpose of the 223mm front rotor but the rear only supports up to 203mm. I personally wish they’d offer an option for Mavens, in that case Id be happy even with 200mm rotors front and rear.

10/22/2024 9:58am You would still want to bleed both with the adjustment wound out completely, then dial each in until they match. In most cases the rear will end up being turned in further than the front to achieve the same lever throw/bite point.

Those systems sounds really promising. I’ll be excited to see more brands adopt it and to try one out in the future. I think with what’s available currently it’s hard to go wrong with any of the bikes currently equipped with Bosch, but in 3 years or so that could no longer be the case.

In my experience I think the e-bike is the best use for the system. I know it’s not necessarily the case, but the assist modes feel more efficient and the bike feels like it just rolls faster in general.

Assuming you're talking about Angel... On some podcast recently where Neko was talking about the new Frameworks enduro bike, he was saying how he liked Fox (of course), and he went on longer than I'd expect that Ohlins was amazing to work with and their suspension could be set up perfectly. Then just left a short note about how Rockshox was available for the bike if that's what you prefer. It would make sense that he would hype up their current sponsor Fox, so maybe Ohlins is a future sponsor.

😅 We stubbornly wanted to make the sliding bushing work so bad, probably delayed the whole project by a year. At the end of the day in blind A/B testing, riders couldn't tell a difference so it was ease of service and manufacturing consistency that pushed us to fixed bushings. Mountain bikes are similar to motos in many ways but also different, so not every moto concept is a good fit for us.
