8/28/2024 3:14pm The Formula Belva really blew it with the internals that can’t accommodate heavier riders. Target market for a dual crown fork on an enduro is big humans. Bummed.

8/28/2024 3:14pm I don't contest that people have had bad experiences with a Zeb, or any of the forks in this test. Shoot, I compared two bikes a few years ago that both had FOX Factory 36's, 150mm w/ Grip2, and the difference in stiction, air pressure, and damper settings was wild. However, I'll put my foot down and say that we don't give a sh*t about marketing hype. We like to know what a brand has done and why so that we can substantiate their claims on the trail. But we (Vital editorial crew) care way more about trying to give...

8/28/2024 9:30am That was my mistake. Looking back at the setup guide and my original notes, it looks like I counted those clicks from open for whatever reason. My actual setup would reflect what the manual suggests and my setup was in fact 8 clicks from closed.

8/27/2024 7:36pm Thats interesting to hear, Ive only had that experience with my Zeb after a year and a half of riding with no service on it. I imagine there is quite a bit of variance with the higher production volume stuff and the chance of getting a lemon is much higher. Ive found the benefit of Rockshox stuff is the ability to run high pressure without sacrificing traction.

8/27/2024 7:33pm We never felt the need to remove it but I may try it at some point. I did remove the spacer from my DH38 as that fork was severely lacking small bump sensitivity and the larger negative chamber did improve it slightly. Our experience with the RXF38 was very much the opposite though and Ive been very happy with it just the way it is.

8/27/2024 1:53pm Yup, no Manitou, EXT, Push, Intend, Bright Racing, MRP, or Temu knock-offs. But that just means they're on the list to review in the future 🤙

8/26/2024 10:44am I've always been a fan of TLD, I've gone through maybe 6 of their helmets in my lifetime from the D2 up to the D4. I've unfortunately gone through a D4 and a Fox RPC in the last two years with both shells cracking. They both did their job, but the RPC seemed to transmit significantly more force through the...

8/20/2024 10:16pm I know I'm late to the Scott Gambler shock heat discussion, and I know our resident experts have said shock heat isn't a big factor on performance, but... what if they put the shock inside and then decide to put part of the shock outside

8/20/2024 10:14pm kona remote X and remote 160 DL ebikes launched today https://www.vitalmtb.com/news/press-release/introducing-all-new-kona-re… re: temperatures...i've touched the shock bolt head on the outside of the frame on jonny's bike 5 minutes after a run at mtn creek (which isn't super long) and it was too hot to keep a finger on. does that matter for shock internals? no idea.

8/19/2024 9:59am The damper is pretty consistent. Damper fluid is designed to have consistent viscosity across a wide range of temperatures… that is the whole reason to have a special oil. Plus the fact that shim valves aren’t terribly sensitive to viscosity in the first place. I’ve run these experiments on a dyno FYI- small % changes at most. Air springs on the other hand gain noticeable pressure when hot. I’m always a bit skeptical when someone complains about their coil shock becoming a pogo stick due to heat. More than likely it’s you and your (weak, non-world cup) legs getting fatigued...
