Hopefully this will help explain what I meant. If you've ridden a bike with a really slack headtube angle, you've probably experienced the wandering front wheel feeling while climbing at a low speed where the wheel wants to flop side to side. On the opposite end, they feel incredibly planted at high speed. The reason for that is the pressure increase at the front tire's contact patch. I enjoyed my Stumpy Evo. I wouldn't say it was a perfect bike for my situation, but I still think it has best silhouette in mountain biking

Progressive springs are definitely overkill on modern enduro bikes. I increased progression a bunch on my Reign with a Cascade link, and I experienced the same kind of harshness you guys did on the 279. A straight-rate spring remedied the problem, and has the rear end working better than I ever imagined it would.

Rode one for a year. Pretty solid, but with some issues; 1) Tons of seal drag in both the linkage and idler pulley. Everything is double/triple sealed and has quite a bit of drag. The rear end would not drop under it's own weight with shock and wheel removed. I took out some of the extra seals on the pivots and it helped, but still no where close to as free as anything from other mfgs (SC, Speshy, Trek, Transition, etc). But hey, seems like @TEAMROBOT likes lots of LSC/stiction. 2) The shock linkage sticks out below the BB and...

Respectfully, it sounds like this isn't a design issue from Trek. It's an assembly issue on the production line, i.e. someone on the production line didn't read the memo and installed the parts wrong. Trek is correcting the mistake on the assembly line, and it should be fine going forward. From what I've heard, everything works as intended when the bike is setup correctly. Is this chain dropping problem a bummer? Totally. Is it embarrassing for Trek and MRP? You bet. But I don't think it represents a design or R&D problem. It's like how the Nukeproof Mega we tested...

Thanks for posting the note about proper setup of that guide. In addition to fixing the spacing, Slash owners should rotate the guide clockwise so that it's increasing chainwrap on the chainring and countering chain growth. The former for better chain retention, and the latter for the overall performance of the Transmission system. A gap of 10-24mm from the bottom of the chainstay to the top of the roller, depending on frame size and drivetrain, is what we advise.
