2/19/2026 5:24pm It's actually way better looking than I would have thought. And it's steel. And it has a Great name!

2/19/2026 4:21am Now this is a bike that I'd be interested in trying. So much more interesting than all the mopeds being flogged as the latest and greatest.

2/19/2026 2:07am I'm sorry this is pedantic but every VPP and DW link suspension design is already a four bar linkage

2/19/2026 2:03am Put a plug in it trailside to get you out of the woods, then Rema TipTop tubeless patches (blue backing instead of red). They are stiffer so they don't stretch like inner tube patches do. There are very few tubeless tyres I haven't patched with them in the last 10 years, I punctured almost all of them and very rarely was it so late it made sense to throw out the tyre. On the other hand I patched week old tyres and ran them for most of the season patched. EDIT: if it's a really big gash and the patch...

2/19/2026 2:01am This feels like the thin edge of the subscription wedge to me... Don't have an S-Works but want that extra 40w? Pay up!

2/19/2026 2:00am Kinda derailing this thread now, but a couple of counter arguments: -XTR, XT, and SLX aren't "wildly" different in the results, there's about 10% decrease in recorded power between each of them with stock pads (they didn't test XT and SLX with the Sinter pads). Since they used the average of 20 decelerations, I would say there is some underlying (=real) reason for the differences. -TRP's DH-R EVO always felt a bit low on brake-power-to-finger-power ratio for me, compared to several other brakes... -remember that they tested with constant power at the lever (4 kg of force on the levers...

2/19/2026 1:53am Thanks! I would be very curious how a set of formula brakes with 9mm master cylinder (instead of 10mm) and also with a few more threads cut on the reach adjust to allow more range of adjustment, would stack up against the Mavens etc. The brakeace was interesting to try but they only had the clunky android app at the time I used it. After a couple weeks with the system my takeaway was that regardless of the brakes you are using, you always end up using similar braking power. For example I had very similar data between the Lewis...

2/19/2026 1:51am Iirc they use the product as shipped, as it's much more relevant than people mix and matching which doesn't happen on stock bikes. It's one of the better brake tests done, sorry it's not to your standards. I'll kindly wait your entirely free review of 14 brake systems in and out of the lab, until then, maybe be a touch more accepting.

2/19/2026 1:51am I inferred that they tested the XTR's as a set with the XTR rotor, the SLX's as a set with the SLX rotor, Hayes' as a set with the Hayes rotor, Formula with Formula, etc... They then also tested with Sinter pads as control. They missed a few combinations and the hypothesis/method/apparatus/etc isn't described with technical rigor, so perhaps it wouldn't pass as a scientific paper, but it's not a scientific paper. I feel that I can make meaning of the results.

2/18/2026 10:35pm I'm not going to tell you how to live your life, but the Noken is way cheaper and easier than all the modifications you've already made. I thought it made a huge difference on my 180 Zeb, and when I took it off I had all the same symptoms you described (support or full travel, but never both). I think the Noken is a lifesaver for the long travel Zeb.

2/18/2026 10:33pm This makes so much sense. Now I know!!! This whole time I could have been as fast as Gwin if I'd had access to the softer tire compounds.

2/18/2026 10:29pm Begrudgingly: respect to this king of kooks and to the boomer eeb brand with the golf course / hedge fund / discount jeweler name for doing it right…embracing the corny. Self aware. Appropriately relevant. This is good stuff! Norco / Brage campaign: this is how you do it.
