Trouble is, with fewer riders on track come race day the more reason to not bother attending and the flatter the atmosphere becomes. So much talk about TV coverage, but it gets less and less appealing as a live spectator as numbers are cut. I've attended Fort Bill 3 times over the years, I'd already think twice now with reduced riders on track to watch.

I'm not sure if it was entirely the result of a multiple-time-repeat venue, but I found this year's runs harder to differentiate. To be clear, I don't want to trivialize any of what the riders are doing -- it's all extremely impressive and consequential. But from a spectator's perspective it seemed like there was less variety in the lines than in past editions, and apart from Zink's chute and maybe Zablotny's lily-pad it would be difficult for me to identify many distinctive features. Lots of slight variations, and it seemed like many of the lines converged around halfway down? And...

That's the real kicker. The situation was bad enough as is. But being, essentially, right after a junior being DQd for being seconds? late... A minute? How late was he... At this point, I'd kinda like to know how many times the UCI rulebook says... "But also we can change our mind." Because in practice that is all those statements mean when they are that vague and always depend on a personal call by an official. "Here's a rule, but if things get too confusing we'll just ask Bob what he feels like doing." Ironically, for the cost of 1 electronic dropper, you could buy 3 normal droppers and wouldn't need to swap anything. Bikers will buy the most stupid sh*t and electronic droppers is at the top of that list.

The battery will likely add to the length of the post, and could be a show stopper with the current trend for the longest possible post. The wireless receiver circuitry also need to be outside metal, so placing it with the battery either at the seat clamp or the collar is natural. Relocating the battery and replacing it with a charging port is an alternative. On e-bikes a post should/could have connection to the main battery/controller for the ultimate in clean look and integration.

batteries are round, seatpost is round, put round battery in round tube. Until that is achieved, I will suffer with my tiny bit of cable going from my head tube to handlebar.
