9/6/2023 10:46am You can get burned out on doing runs with the same dude for several years in a row, seeing your times vary from each other vary little and feeling "identical". Changing teams/frames/kits/parts feels like you did something so radical, you think your results will leap off the page just from the motivation alone.

9/6/2023 8:35am To be fair, neither has Jordan I’d be surprised to see Finn go, if you listen to his podcast with sleeper co he’s very aware of the advantages that team has re. the way it’s managed and the equipment opportunities they have.

8/1/2023 1:04pm I just saw the new Altitude and I wish I could say more but I cant. All I will say is I was shock in the direction they have gone in a good way. It'll be a very interesting bike and I haven't seen a correct rumor about it yet. Stay thirsty my friends.....

7/29/2023 10:23am This is exactly what happens. When the shock is sitting too deep the front gets unloaded and you can't maintain enough weight on the front tire contact patch to engage corners properly. You can fake it a bit with body position but in the end you will always be fighting the shock. A ballpark estimate is for every 9kg of body weight I would be increasing 50lb/in of spring rate on coils. The other major component of rear end support (and therefor overall grip and balance) is shock damping. Plenty of bikes are shipping with very light rear shock tunes that...

7/29/2023 10:23am Losing the front becomes a self fulfiling prophesy. You wash the front, so lose confidence, so start hanging off the back, so lose grip......so wash the front.

7/29/2023 10:23am Yeah for sure. Get a stiffer spring and test. I’m very sensitive to spring rate and have been trying lots of weights and materials. Steel, Ti, lightweight steel. They all make a difference

7/29/2023 10:08am Cheers for the advice - definitely seems to make sense. Gonna try the air shock again so I can play around with pressures, but definitely going to have to get another spring
JimmyK Started a new thread Softer shock = Loss of front end grip
7/29/2023 4:25am Trying to see if there’s a method in my madness: I’ve gained some weight this year (~7kg), but I’ve kept the same spring on my rear shock. Coincidentally, I’ve had a lot of crashes recently caused by lack of front wheel grip. I’ve tried different front tyres but no improvement… Im wondering if the (relative to before) softer spring is...

6/29/2023 1:08pm Can't say for sure what Mondraker has changed on the new bike or how they've gone about changing it, but I bet that they lowered the anti-squat. It was seriously high on the old bike - around 233% in the 10T gear when paired with a 36T chainring. This ridiculous amount of AS probably played a large part in the unpredictable feeling that Brook talks about - 233% would likely mess with your suspension performance pretty bad. Mondraker probably also changed the carbon layup. In "Making Up The Numbers", Brook talked about how the carbon frame was unduly flexy under...

6/28/2023 5:40am New downtime podcast with Brook Macdonald is an interesting listen; he speaks a lot about the old Mondraker bike and how bad it was. Apparently just completely unpredictable to ride. sounds like their new prototype is a welcome one, any idea what they’ve changed?

4/4/2023 4:20am I have my doubts that they're really trying to change it into anything other than a porn website. There's so much association of "OnlyFans" with porn that it might be an unshakable reputation. Think of the skepticism you would receive while explaining to your boss that the OF pages in your browser history, or to your spouse that the OF charges on your credit card are just you watching mountain bike vlogs. You would think that if OnlyFans really wanted to appeal outside of porn, they would offer a separate platform free of the baggage. It might sound conspiracy-brained (but...

3/21/2023 2:53pm Specs are suspiciously similar to Redlines "like-water" oil, which coincidentally is what Fox also uses for the Transfer seatpost! Damper fade due to viscosity change isn't as big of a deal in MTB shocks, the actual temps they reach isn't that high. Bear in mind an aluminium bodied shock at 45 *C will feel RAGING hot to the hand! The change in pressure of the air spring is far more noticeable, and usually what riders are feeling instead of damping loss
