5/16/2025 6:06am It's possible to use them wrong. If you follow the procedure that makes the most of them they're great, quite an improvement over the standard process. If you don't, and take the same kind of approach you would with a brake that doesn't have them then they kinda just get in the way. - Back out crosshair screws - Push on caliper to move it inboard so outer pad is fully in contact with rotor - Tighten down caliper bolts until you just can't move the caliper by hand (not until play is gone, i mean until you are unable...

5/15/2025 7:25pm Forgot that Starling has basically done this already. https://bikerumor.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/freeflow-ff60-ebike-mo… https://www.starlingcycles.com/starlings-prototype-ebike-on-embn/ They used a FreeFlow drive (basically same as TQ) mounted to spin non drive side and ran a jackshaft across to dive side.

2/5/2025 5:21am A while back I rode a Zerode at a demo day, it climbed just fine, rear suspension felt incredible on the way back down. Some stats on efficiency here, which may or may not be accurate https://zerodebikes.com/pages/drag All things considered I'm not sure it's a big issue.

1/22/2025 8:46am People assume way too much about gearboxes and belts. Do not judge until your ride one. The reports you read about the drag or gripshift appear to be mostly from people who haven't ridden a gearbox bike and are just repeating what they heard. I have a gearbox bike with a belt drive, 155mm cranks. Full suspension with idler and tensioner. So lots of added "drag" beyond the gearbox itself. It's a big enduro bike that gets used for bike parks and shuttle laps too. I've beat it to hell and back for the last 3 years, broken frames, bent...

1/16/2025 12:32pm pretty sure thats the future of DH, sic rig! The only issue is the cost that I see, but that will get sorted as the platform gets more adopted. I am sick of replacing over priced cassettes (even a 7 speed DH cassette is priced like jewelry , replacing chains when they are .0000001 out of spec and cleaning my chain every ride. I am over geared drivetrains. The weight centered around the bottom less unsprung weight at the wheel..the benefits are endless for the belt and gear box.

1/11/2025 6:24am Man, I don't want to derail this thread even more than I already have today (and yesterday), but does anyone else feel like the term "Certified Pre-Owned" is a bit of a misnomer? They're clearly trying lean into the automotive market, where CPO is essentially defined term wherein the OEM has inspected the car, certified it, and is continuing to honour the warranty (and possibly extending it). Is TPC inspecting, certifying, and honouring warranties? (hint: the answer is no). I was curious about what CPO means in this case so I checked their terms of service; it means you get...

1/11/2025 5:46am I wanted to follow up my earlier post with a few more details as to why I made my Atherton Bikes (very speculative) prediction. Again, please take my thoughts with a giant grain of salt. This was a total hare brained speculative Monday morning musing I probably should have kept to myself. In any event, here is why I feel really any brand like AB has a challenging future ahead. All performance continues to asymptote. Paying more for a product is getting the bike rider less and less in the way of absolute performance. While I know Atherton has a...

1/11/2025 5:44am i know it's a fine line between relevant discussion about economy and the bike industry in this forum thread and i'm always blown away by how civil everyone is here. i appreciate that! as it's starting to get a bit more general, we have an "off the bike" forum area if you want to talk general global policy, thoughts on immigration etc. - https://www.vitalmtb.com/forums/VitalMTB/Off-the-Bike,3 let's keep this one as bike-specific as possible.
