I think you have over thought it and the bk sport thing. I'm pretty sure it was just a merch opportunity off the back of his YouTube channel success and popularity. From the conversations going on in other threads on this site and others it seems like that may be on the decline so I doubt he could count on that. I know for one I wouldn't walk about with a t-shirt with his name on it.

They are probably very aware of the detective work. On a recent podcast either Alan Milway or Greg Minnaar mentioned the Danny Hart censored bike image that somebody altered in this forum, and that it was unintentional, but probably a good thing for engagement in general. Yeti probably heard that and thought they should give the same thing a go as well.

I know negativity is cool and all in 2024/5, but this rule change or whatever you call it, is because previously, under UCI organisation teams were not allowed to sell merch from their pits. I think it was so the local organisers could make more money selling expo space to vendors etc... So it's basically a positive change... but ya.

Even with a thin piston wall in contact with the pad there is still significantly more heat transfer than other materials. Hard to get convection to out weigh conduction when it comes to heat transfer. When we were developing brake calipers, we really wanted to do stainless pistons because it's much easier to make stainless pistons, but the numbers just don't agree. This was testing comparing the temperature of the caliper body with stainless pistons similar to what you've described and phenolic pistons. The track was up on Chuckanut so nothing crazy.
