I am stoked to see the damper forward setup starting to gain momentum. As a kid, I grew up riding and racing haresrambles on the east coast. The first thing we did to every bike was have the forks and shock re-valved and different springs installed. Our suspension guy swore by the philosophy that the spring's only job was to hold the bike up, the damper does all the work. That set up still was hit and miss for people, TBH. Some people (me included) loved it. The bike was glued to the ground. You went through 1/3 or more...

I'd bet it would be. What it comes down to is how many parts you are trying to align in "one part" vs "several parts". Long post coming up. Sorry in advance. Fork Tubes: In a USD configuration, its very easy to get a single overlapping fork tube aligned properly. Even if you don't go with a floating bushing design, you are far more likely to nail this 10000 out of 10000 times than a single crown setup where you are trying to align multiple things in each phase of the manufacturing process. Crowns: The crowns in a USD setup...

It's probably the same frame Unior Sinter riders raced last season they were on Devinci. Dak rode it. It might be slightly different geometry wise but it looks exactly the same. The first proto was ridden at WCs in 2020, probably the reason why it's still a full 29er. Photo is from PB's article https://www.pinkbike.com/news/bike-check-jack-pellands-prototype-devinc…

😅 We stubbornly wanted to make the sliding bushing work so bad, probably delayed the whole project by a year. At the end of the day in blind A/B testing, riders couldn't tell a difference so it was ease of service and manufacturing consistency that pushed us to fixed bushings. Mountain bikes are similar to motos in many ways but also different, so not every moto concept is a good fit for us. Sure, putting sliding bushings as a feature on our spec sheet would look cool, but if it isn't actually better we're not interested. And yes, it is...

Other than the cable ports the front triangle looks literally identical. Credit to taprider on the NSMB forums. Apparently my LBS has them in stock, built, and hidden in the back, but I haven't been down to look.

There is a huge amount of CNC machine work in Taiwan/China. It's also possible to have complex items as part of larger orders. Not everything has to be done in the USA. I don't have a full steerer, it's similar to the intend fork with a nub sitting into the bearing and a bolt through to preload

I believe it was, in fact, in finals; and on his homemade bike, at that. However, it was an attempt that ultimately ended in eating shit. Not a great backflip jump haha. A quote from the other site, "Pretty much I decided yesterday I was going to go back after this race and probably not really race anymore, so I figured I’d try to get a race run flip before I lost my chance. Kinda called it out before going back to look at the jump, so by the time I scoped it out and saw how flat it actually...

Sounds like the majority of Enduro teams will be folding. Lots of high profile riders will be on their own "provateer" setups

Transmission, it's weaknesses, and "solutions" for those weaknesses all seem kind of insane to me. Hey we have this little uvula looking thing on the back of frames which the derailleur attaches to. Usually, derailleurs aren't that expensive these days but just in case, it's meant to bend instead of allowing the derailleur to break. Because our frame is made of steel, we can usually just bend it back for free! How nice! Since we moved on to alloy/carbon, we had to make the hanger its own item. We went with aluminum alloy so it's stiff and light, but if...
