I think that's a solid observation and I think a lot of it also depends on each rider profile (strengths, weaknesses, build, etc). I went the long cs, shorter reach, high stack route and found myself riding faster and with more control on the terrain that I enjoy - steep & technical. Interestingly, when going from an Enduro to Madonna, I found the Enduro to be more of an unengaging riding experience that dulled too much of the trail for me. Which isn't to say the Enduro is a bad bike, but maybe not best suited to me, my preferences...

Specialized developed a fully bonded alloy crown/stanchion system for the E160 fork around 2010 while I was a member of the engineering group. It is a great alternative to the traditional press fit assembly method for a fork CSU, and in some ways superior. The moto inspiration for the 9.1 design is apparent, the fork lugs...

A combination of mathematica and 2D sketches in CAD. I write out all the equations using whichever variables I want to change and then use mathematica to solve them and generate plots. Conceptually all the equations are simple. I like doing it this way because it makes you really understand everything that's going on, it's quick to iterate dimensional changes, and I can come up with pretty much any metric I want if something out of the ordinary makes a comparison better. For example, those plots I posted about ramp in leverage curve vs ramp in damping force as you'd...

Yeah, I have a fairly intuitive understanding of the physics and the numbers thanks to previous jobs, so I'll rephrase to what I actually mean. The natural frequency and damping properties of the axles make as much difference to the bike as a gnat's fart does to a hurricane. It's nonsense to consider. As soon as you tension it, bolt it into the dropouts, and have two bearings and sleeves/spacers etc sitting on it, it's impossible to excite at any frequency other than what the system its now part of is now experiencing as a whole, and at that point...

Long time wc photographer D ave Trumpore left this comment on pinkbike in relation to Daprella not being included in any photos. " if you punch someone in the face and don't get charged with assault that doesn't mean you didn't punch them in the face... and often times money buys silence ;-)" supporting the allegations and rumours of a payout/ threat of legal action to sites. Is quite saddening to see allegations of such a nature be so easily brushed under the rug with money even in the small world of mtb.

I'm honestly considering buying one to do my own little test on my uber tiny YouTube channel, just cause I'm a spaz, but for those questioning Charlie's integrity I am 1000% sure he'd call it out as being a let down if indeed it was. Is it a massive leap forward in suspension performance? I think we all know the answer to that. Same-ish damper. Same-ish air spring. Same seals (as a 36). Yes, bushings are better/overlap better/different chassis. But guys at the EWS level aren't bolting this to their bike and going oodles faster (but not slower, it appears...

I was working in the engineering department at Specialized during the whole "zertz" thing. They did absolutely nothing. We tested frames with them and without them on an MTS test bed as well as having strain gauges/etc and DAQ systems on for riding. They did not damp or mute anything, zero difference. The shape of the carbon stay itself did change how the rear end behaved when compared to a "normal" seat stay, but the zertz did nothing. It even got to the point where Specialized was ordering field test frames without them as the cost was a bit lower...

I can't figure out why anyone making an inverted fork in 2025, especially a single crown inverted fork, wouldn't use the Manitou hex axle to add torsional stiffness. The patent is expired and it adds almost no weight. I imagine a 15mm hex axle is significantly stiffer in torsion than a round 20mm axle, and doesn't require a new front hub. Especially if you're already doing pinch bolts, you can do it the way the Dorado has been doing it since 2002? It's so simple! We'd finally settled on Boost 15mm as a trail bike front hub, and now it's...

Literally went away from Reverbs cause I hated that play and losing what felt like a cm or two when I sat down on it, and now they’re advertising it as a feature lmao. We’re riding on suspension bikes but now we need suspension in our seat post too? No thanks.

Technically I don't get paid by SRAM either. They support the Canyon factory team that I am a part of, who pays me. That isn't to say they don't support me, but I don't have a contract with them. Factory teams are generally bolstered by sponsorship deals to increase the budget they have. YT went the route of 'uncaged' which meant they were fitting the whole bill and allowing their riders to run whatever they wanted, not taking any sponsorship money so the riders weren't forced into anything. Or so I understand it. So Jack would still get paid as...

If I can add my 2 cents here. I don't think Sram paid Jack, or the team, anything. That whole YT deal is that they run whatever they want because they don't take money from any sponsors. Now I think that was changing because the industry is struggling and they probably saw how much money they were losing out on. My best guess is YT asked Sram to pay to support the team and they said no, so YT doubled down on the TRP/Fox association they had already been building. Vali would be the only one I could see saying...

transition should have named that jpeg (and project) internally "WarrenG". ok, I'll show myself out. nah but seriously, that's an interesting bike. I'm going to assume, becuase what's the worst that could happen. Hopefully, that's got a bosch SX and is a light weight ebike. I'm surprised how few bikes are on the market using that drivetrain. The norco fluid vlt is a pretty sweet bike that I feel like is under appreciated... I've taken a spin on that bike and the bosch sx has a really natural feeling that benefits from spinning it up with a high cadance.
