I appreciate all the talk of durability but what is yet to be seen is how well the drivetrain really wears. I can stomach $100 chain prices if I can get 2x the millage out of them. Same goes for the cassette & ring. Obviously, the design of the derailleur itself is killer. Lack of backwards compatibility however is lame, though I do see why it was warranted (new chain; I have to think the shifter should have been backwards compatible though no?)

There is plenty to like, especially making the derailleur more repairable than before. I hope they will do similar for acoustic versions. But I don't like the dual bash guards. The frame mounted options give the same protection with less overall weight and no rotational weight. Seems to me like a glaring example of form over function.

I wonder if this custom linkage on the factory GT Force will ever make it to production. They've been using it for almost a year now, I think.

@Jonathon Simonetti Very comprehensive review, thanks! But here comes the most important question IMO: Does it actually shift any better than Shimano Deore XT or XTR?

Am I the only person that wants tires like this in double-down grade casing? I need a puncture-resistant tire, but I don't need slow-rolling Assegais or Minions on the rear, not even on my enduro bike. How do you guys get these EXO casings to survive, especially in the rear? I can get away with EXO+ if I run air pressures much higher than ideal, which still sucks. But EXO and similar? I've never had a rear last more than 3 or 4 rides without pinching it or ripping the sidewall.

I get what you're saying, but even Ford and Chevy refer to "the new F150" or "the new Silverado" in their marketing materials, which proves that no one in the world actually treats these model names as if they're real names for people. They're object identifiers. I'm not the Charlie, and the Loic Bruni didn't win senior men's world champs last year, but Loic did win on a Demo 8 with the Ohlins DH38.

If we're poking fun at SRAM marketing, make sure to pay attention for dropped articles in their new AXS press release, too. SRAM hates articles like "the" or "a" in front of their products names. "Lyrik has the most efficient... blah blah blah" or "Zeb is the stiffest... blah blah blah." If you or I talked like that people would think we're crazy. "I drink Coffee ® out of Mug ® that I put on Table ® while I sit in Chair ®."
