Browsing eBay last night and pickup a new shock for a smoking deal from a seemingly random seller until I take a gander at the from address. Really hope Evil makes it because I love DW and have heard their bikes ride like nothing else!

Since we're all beating this dead horse, I'll close with a few thoughts. Assumption on Capex: You all are right, AB could be outsourcing all of their additive manufacturing and CNC work. However, if this is true, its going to make scaling the business harder than it already is and per unit costs higher. Not saying its impossible, but you are either caught carrying all sorts of inventory in the form of lugs and links, or you are somehow ridiculously tight with the vendors that are doing all this work for you, and risk long lead times and lost sales...

The rumor here in Kamloops is that We Are One has been sold to industry 9. Which explains why they have stop making bikes and there DH program is cancelled as well.

I hear you, and again, I like a lot of what they’re doing. I want to be clear that when I’m being critical of a company, it’s not meant personally—it’s just an assessment of what I see, and requires a whole bunch of assumptions to be made (which might be wrong). Much like the original post I made in this thread about GG, I really do tip my cap to anyone who takes risks and makes things happen, but I’m also going to analyze where any company might’ve gone wrong or what I see as questionable decisions. This is largely...

The median income in the last ranked state (Mississippi) is higher than the median income for the entirety of the UK. Your problem is lack of social programs, not lack of income. American's are obscenely rich, yet have ~15% poverty rate (from OECD data). If you get an international perspective you'd realise how well off the majority of Americans are

I read it all. I read all of his posts. They're interesting, Jeff seems knowledgeable, and any insight into the machinations of that world are thought provoking. I have very little interest in or ability to take part in big money finance or business. But I'm curious. I like to understand why people do what they do, why things that seem obvious aren't obvious, and why things that seem complicated aren't so complicated. It's pretty telling that you took an opportunity to fire a dart at someone in an attempt to posture some self-assumed dominance over someone else when the...

Personally I'd say most of us subscribed to this thread do. If you find his posts too long winded then fair enough, don't read them, but for me Jeff brings great insight and knowledge to the thread, he's certainly given me a better understanding of the financial side of the bike world.

Bummer to hear about the GT situation—really tough, especially given the history. I hope everyone who worked there lands on their feet quickly. My thoughts, in no particular order: Brand Equity: As others have mentioned, the perception and value of a brand are crucial, especially during a time of performance consolidation (where performance variance is shrinking). GT has long struggled to define its identity, perhaps trying to do too much: a value brand that also fields a World Cup team; a performance company but also one with bikes in big-box stores. Margin Erosion: While I can't say for sure, it...

Let the legal systems sort it out. If it's information that is not meant to be public yet, it won't be. To respect her privacy as well as allow legal systems to follow their course we shouldn't dig. Digging for team rumors and staff/personnel changes are one thing, this is something else. I would be willing to bet we'll know the name at some point anyways.

I’m really of two minds on looking for who it could be. On the one hand, I want to know so that “justice” or “retribution” can be enacted, but on the other hand, I feel like doing the sleuthing to figure out who it was takes power away from Ares and that she should have the right to name the accused in her own time.

Hey Charlie, it just occurred to me that in practice, pedal kick does not actually manifest as pedal kick. It manifests as encumbered suspension. If you want to see the on trail effects of different pedal kick solutions, you should get some data acquisition for your rear suspension and ride a very repeatable section of trail. You’d be able to see the differences between Ochain and the sidekick hub etc by comparing your suspension usage.

At sea otter, the owner of a big german distribution company said there was chatter about some of the bigger brands shopping around container loads of bikes and P&A for roughly the cost of just shipping those goods. The storage costs were piling up and at current sell rates, they were amounting to 10+ years of inventory on hand. It...
