a 20 would be so rad but (if anyone is actually serious), verify the rules don't specify wheels have to be 26" or larger - @mickey ???

Well, if anyone needs to borrow a DH race bike for Collegiate Nats, I’ve got an early 2010’s Fit Aitken available. It’s already set up brakeless, so you should be good to go. Has anybody heard if they may put in temporary features for it?

Jake just released a video (yesterday?) on a Pivot. Seems unlikely unless he owed them a video to fulfill his contract terms and be released from his contract.
For when I travel, I keep the same wheel size, so I only have to carry along 1 spare tire.

Funny, I built up an Elevator from the frame this year and was previously on a Honzo ESD. I wanted something more in the "trail" category and settled on the Elevator after looking at a bunch of other hardtails. It's super fun and playful, pretty much what you would expect for a bike with chainstays that short. Even though the geo would suggest it would be a pretty good mullet candidate, I don't think it would work. The chainstay yoke (not really a yoke, but two separate pieces) wraps around the 29" rear wheel and I'm pretty sure a 27.5"...

Why am I sharing this, and why might another rider want to read this? I'm a (modestly) credentialed, (modestly) working scientist with no present affiliation to the any part of the bike industry. Teaching quantitative reasoning and technical communication skills is the lion's share of what I do for work. I'm not a 'sci-comm' professional trying to drive attention toward a podcast about bikes or a bike youtuber trying to grab attention by deploying keywords like data or science. I don't have a vested interest in either bike setup being faster than the other. So let this be my attempt...

So--I demoed to 120 this summer and really enjoyed the ride. Yetis tend to have great small-bump performance--it felt pretty great on fairly smooth trails. It was quiet and felt "taut" to me. I did feel that the technical climbing was just ok--I lost traction at times due to the stiff sag point. (But I'm used to a DW link) The 120 "felt" fast and carried the line well in curves. Downside--it's pretty heavy for a 120mm bike. But so is the Tallboy. I also rode the 140, and that is a pretty good ride that doesn't feel too big...

Thx a ton for having me. Post any questions or call outs here (which is totally fair) and I'll respond. Also, apologies for all the rambling. I was...nervous. 😬

Thanks for putting out the podcast! I'm excited to give it a listen bit by bit over the next few days. Cool timing, too, because I just listened to a podcast yesterday that talks (briefly) about the financial side of a smaller bike company so that got me super curious about the industry as a whole ("hole?") and how financial...

Yoooooooo, y'all! I don't have any way around here to really demo/test ride bikes. Only shop that'll allow it is a Specialized dealer and only allows demos of Specialized bikes...and only in the parking lot. So I kind of have to take a leap of faith with any bike I buy. I have an opportunity to buy an SB120 in...

I did a little more digging around on Pierer this morning. One thing that really stood out was how poorly their bicycle segment is doing. This is probably of little surprise to anyone in this forum, being we've already covered the Felt thing and we all know the Husky/GasGas e bikes are nothing special. However, look at just how bad the business really is. Negative EUR115M in EBITDA and EUR299 in debt. Just awful. I made a much longer post on VitalMX and because I'm a gnarcissist I posted it to my blog, too. Somebody let Dak know he's going...

They'll be doing downhill, I'd imagine. Richie seems capable and motivated. He'll do well enough. Send Slawomir to all the stage races, Megavalanches, some EDRs, all the US stuff like Leadville or Downieville or Maah Daah Hey 100 (little shout out for a cool race up here in North Dakota) and all the wild stuff he's willing to do. He'll...

After listening to Vojo mag: lunch time podcast with Alex Rudeau (in French), it appears the first ever enduro world champion is going into 2025 without team support, on his own program. He’s also not planning to race all World Cup races. He tells that most of the edr racers are on same as he is, except a few big names, like Jesse Melamed, that are keeping some team support but at a way smaller scale. And others, like Martin Maes, are turning full downhill. An other point thing discussed is that some top enduro racers are coordinating to pack...
