Right or wrong, I think some of it comes down to the fact that nobody else on that hill could have done Brandon’s run. Meanwhile, Syzmon and Adolf had identical tricks on two of their biggest contributing features and three people flipped Price is Right. That being said, for the first time ever I’m not convinced they got the top three correct. But if they re-ordered them in any combination I think I’d say the same thing. My other notes, Brendan is too special and too rad to be confined by Rampage. I don’t know how you score him (objectively...

I agree and I'm not certainly against slopestyle riders, but Godziek's run was so much rowdier. I haven't recently watched Rheeder's last winning run, but that was definitely deserving of the win. It's shame to think that Godziek might have won if he'd done a 360 instead of one of his back flips and hadn't had that tiny case half...

Scoring aside, there was a lot of really wild riding that went down this year. The level everyone is operating at in 2024 simply boggles my mind.

To preface, I'm the biggest Semenuk fan but IMO his run wasn't better than Godzieks. Front flip, double backflip, bunch of amplitude, etc.. I'm not a Rampage judge but I still think Godziek's run was better.

Today's MD is yesterday's LG, so he'll be just fine. At 6ft tall I'm pretty sure I was riding what would be considered a SM today back when I was younger and did just fine sending sketchy stuff. And to echo statements made above: new bikes are on fire sale right now, with warranties. This is definitely the way to go. In your neck of the woods I highly recommend dealing with Erik's Bikes. They're the largest dealer, made up of core, knowledgeable riders in the Midwest.

I'd stick with medium if he's 5'7 and growing. Throwing him on a size large now is just asking for him to have reduced control of the bike and hamstringing his ability to develop bike skills optimally. Also, if he gets to 5 9 or 5 10 or 5 11 he can absolutely still ride the medium. I'm 5 11 and I don't like most modern larges so I end up buying mediums to have a shorter wheelbase and more control. But forcing a kiddo on a large while they're still 5'7 is a disservice to their experience. The fun...

The Specialized Fuse would be good enough for him. The X-Fusion forks are less popular than the more expensive brands, but they actually manufacture the forks for some of those other brands, so they know what they’re doing. All the other parts are good enough. He’ll just need the DMR V12 pedals I mentioned above, as the specialised pedals don’t...

I’ll give more general advice. It’s definitely a good option to buy a new whole bike, ideally a full suspension in the sale from a popular mainstream brand like Trek or Specialized. Although a hardtail for the same price with better parts may be more suitable if he’s happy to ride one, this just depends on how smooth the trails...

Here's a good opportunity to catch up with Ethan Nell to hear more about why and how he stepped away from bikes for a bit, and what his mindset is like now that he's back:

In his YouTube video he said they were carbon 26 inch rims, so they’ll be the We Are One carbon rims. I’m guessing they designed them for Brett Rheeder, as I’m pretty sure he was the first to use them.

Glue on the screws and strong tape to try and stop them pop inside. Those screws that we saw in the video won't work, they just fold or gets pushed back in, not to mention they are not even allowed to race with them, only in snowbike races. This Butcher Grid Trail tire weighs 1850g with roughly 400 16-19mm screws.

When the mass slides one direction, the spring backing it in the direction it slides sees increase in force while the spring on the other side sees a decrease. If the spring rates are the same, the one spring force increases the same amount that the other spring force decreases. As a result, the net force is double what it would be with that displacement and a single spring. A numeric example with easy numbers would be two springs with a 50 lb/in rate preloaded to 100 lbs each. When the mass is translated 1” to one side, one spring...

So it took me way to long to stitch these together and export it properly, but I did this test with the tyre at 18psi and 26psi, the 18psi gave the best result. Using parts on hand like some springs around 11.8 N/mm, a 250g mass and a 600g(250+350) mass. (*edit using the 2 opposing springs halves the rate so more like 6 N/mm) The wheel alone is about 1800g so total system about 2.4kg Tyre rates are roughly 35N/mm @ 18psi and 44N/mm at 26psi BUT they are slightly progressive in the first few mm plus I trimmed the...
