There is pretty much only 4 size that you see across all bike categories (road to DH) for round seatpost: 27.2mm / 30.9mm / 31.6mm / 34.9mm and 27.2mm is barely used in MTB. I understand the point of 34.9mm for durability on longer dropper but weight creep up fast in that size. I think it's mostly the 30.9mm and 31.6mm that could be reduced to only 1 of the 2. 30.9mm is the better size if you need to shim a dropper in that size in a 34.9mm frame with a thicker 2mm shim compared to a 1.65mm thick...

Love that these are back! Love scrolling through the pics and listening to the interviews. Always such good racecraft! Also, Anna killing it! When was the last time a lady from the USA has been on the podium? Its been a minute.

Wasn’t a fan of this feature before and definitely even less of a fan after seeing BK and Jim do it BK almost landed to far to the left and ran off the landing in that direction which looks like it would be disastrous. And the compression from the transition was enough to spit Jimbo off his bike. It’s just not a good feature, imo. Reminds me of Sam Reynolds (I believe it was) refusing to do a rampage run because they wouldn’t put up safety netting. They need netting on this.

If you happen to be on LinkedIn, look up a post by Mark Taylor.. He was formerly with Crankworx and his it sounds like it wasn't Benzos and mansions during his time. I wanted to copy and post it here, but the app wouldn't let me.. I would transcribe it, but I haven't reached that point of boredom during my unemployment yet... Also, back Darren Kinnaird did a Pinkbike pod with some insight into running Crankworx.

Man I feel like people aren't reading the whole thread or can't stay on topic with the same points. We can't get away from this idea it's about guys getting paid tons of money (like its about top earners). Unless you're privy to information that's not yet been revealed. This ENTIRE thing is about the wild cards and lowest guys on the totem pole earning some peanuts so that they can either BREAK EVEN or make a single peanut off the event. Let's not forget the top riders just gave up winnings earnings and likely sponsor win bonus (if not...

Just wanted to throw this out there. But for X-games, we all got paid for showing up. For our rights to be on the broadcast. Got a cheque from the Walt Disney Corp. It was 1000 USD. This was in 2013. Every athlete invited, including alternates got paid for appearing. that was blanket across all the sports. Crazy to think back and say I an X games athlete

The point is you don't do it alone numbnuts. You negotiate as a block to reduce the asymmetry of power between employees and employers. And this action came after months of negotiation, it didn't happen overnight. Go look at every industry where there are unions and take note that the union members are better paid and compensated than their non union counterparts. If you like being underpaid, cool, keep sucking up that capitalist kool-aid, but I am proud of the riders for standing up for themselves and pushing their employer for better pay and conditions.

Compensation is negotiation between employers and employees. Employees banding together to negotiate for better compensation is "how markets work", corporate bootlicker.

Fuck all these corporate apologist telling riders they should be greatful for what they get. That they arent irreplacable. That they arent worth more. Fuck all that noise. Get paid lads. Godspeed.

Oh man, I could beat this topic with a broken stick until it returned back to life. Rampage athletes get an appearance fee ever since 2015. Why not the slope guys? Most the slope guys dont actually make that much. I did Pretty good for 15 years. Id average probably 65K USD all said and done over those 15 years. Less when I started and the bigger years in the middle. That is sponsorships and winnings and any travel budgets. BUT I would spend at least 30k of that on traveling and expenses. So that 3k a month before taxes...

Yeah like Zuestman says above, Neko says it's to keep the weight of the moving part of the suspension as low as possible. He shows the lower shock mount here https://youtu.be/nZADPtNg_Js?t=589, it doesn't look like a cartridge bearing and it looks like the tube that holds the shock bolt is metal and then the larger plastic looking tube around that...
