Craw Added a comment about feature First Look, First Ride: 2017 Devinci Marshall
8/30/2016 8:59pm So the Django is designed for the rider who equally likes to climb and descend, but with more travel. But the Marshall is for people who are more descending-oriented, with less travel and a plus tire option. But the geo between the two bikes is really close. So close that it's surprising they made two different bikes.

8/4/2016 11:19am Excellent! Can we roughly extrapolate the sizing numbers from the other size jumps or will XL be treated differently? I have concerns that an XL rider might be too far off the back of the bike with respect to those 414mm chainstays. A steep STA helps manage this but might be at odds with a XL rider's longer femurs. Thoughts...

8/4/2016 9:58am Love your bikes. In fact I find your philosophy and approach to bike building incredibly cool. Is there any chance we'll see an XL EPO soon?

7/29/2016 9:34am Thanks for checking. 1.25" means less than 32mm which smaller than Oury or Easton (both 33mm) or the ESI Extra Chunky (34mm). I've got big hands so I'm always on the lookout for a better option. Doesn't look like this is it.

he's ripping harder than 99% would on anything smaller, and id bet if this bike wasn't out yet and no one knew he was on a 29er there wouldn't be a single neg comment....

Craw Added a comment about feature First Look/First Ride: 2016 Nukeproof Mega 27.5 and 29
11/14/2015 8:59am I tried shifting my seat forward. It makes everything else weird. Also, you can't get 35mm stems any longer than 65mm. The short chainstays make a lot of sense to keep a big wheel bike playful under average sized riders. But put a taller rider on a bike with 414mm chainstays (Canfield) and things start to look really weird. 450mm still seems quite long. I'd be curious to know why they chose that length. I thought about the reach/ETT thing too. Maybe it has something to do with how they position the upper part of the seat tube - if...

11/14/2015 8:56am Move your seat forward 2cm and keep the shorter seat stays!
At your height at least it makes sense to be looking at a longer chainstay. I don't get how people are posting about how the Mega is doing something SO much better than the E29? For "most" people riding a larger wheeled bike they should be trying to get "shorter" chainstays to keep the big wheels feeling lively. And to keep the wheelbase under control with modern geo/long front centers. Which brings me to; I'm not wrapping my head around how two bikes with nearly the same effective...

11/11/2015 3:00pm At first I thought the chainstay length on the 29er was pretty long compared to my E29. But I'm 6'6" and that extra 2cm of chainstay would probably alleviate the rearward position on my bike. I'm definitely coming around on this bike.

bizutch Liked a comment about Feature Opinion: When Does Risk Outweigh the Reward? How Red Bull Rampage Changed Our Perspective
10/20/2015 7:35am I hope you all read this because it's something of a "fact". I write insurance, some pretty crazy policies too sometimes, and one thing to understand is that THERE IS NO INSURANCE POLICY FOR THIS TYPE OF EVENT!!! Sure, you race a USAC bike race, you get secondary coverage that will pay 70/30 after you use all of your existing policy and that's just a bike race, not an "event" (IF YOUR INSURER DEEMS RAMPAGE IS COVERED). But that coverage is easy, simple and a large pool of risk (100's of thousands of riders). Pretty generic "racing" risk. But even...

I am shopping for a helmet like this. But I already have a Kali Avatar that weighs 800g. For a helmet that's supposed to be more pedalable but weighs 1100g, for nearly $400, and not carbon. This is more a "full face with great venting" than some kind of crossover solution.

8/27/2015 10:22am I love this. I have an E29 and I could do with less travel and less weight on similar geometry. The only thing I might wish for is a longer head tube.

Even Josh Bender never snapped a wheel. Seriously, can someone get him some real wheels so his life isn't on the line?
