Just to give you guys a quick update - I am fully pausing on rolling out further beta testing simply because you guys helped me see there is a much better opportunity here than I maybe thought originally. I want to ship something that is really useful, and that you all really find value in, which means I need to bring in some real software engineers to tighten some of the code and make sure the product meets expectations. Plus, its very clear to me I'll need to be shipping android versions alongside iOS. Feel free to put feature &...

Not strictly racing related but a shuttle / uplift / bikepark mode would be great where it doesn't record uphill segments. It's a pain trying to remember to stop & start your watch again for each descent so it doesn't record the uphills (strava throws a hissy fit saying you're in a vehicle and therefore shows no segment times). I know the new garmin MTB device has this feature but strava or other devices don't.

I'd bet it's SRAM no doubt putting their twist on another Vorsprung product (Secus) Why innovate when you can copy a small manufacturers homework.

How does one qualify to race worlds in e-mtb xc or e-mtb enduro for that matter? Asking for...ahem...a friend?

A guy I know was on his first solo mountain bike ride when he started cramping up. Had that first bike / new hobby stoke and was trying out the route we’d shown him the week prior. He hadn’t done a ton of long cardio activities in a while, and ended up getting roasted on a hot day. Mega cramps had him walking the final trail back, with some sit downs and some groaning. Those really gnarly leg cramps that just debilitate you. Not particularly funny. Until a rider came by and helped by offering water and an energy packet...

Just pointing out how we're headed back in the same direction as before when Peaty himself ran around the pits getting signatures to stop skinsuits & aero helmets to keep our sport's marketing identity separate from skiing on 2 wheels. We're back to aero suits, tucked behind the bars, zero pedaling, lean in as hard as possible to banked turns (even on 180s). The only time every racer doesn't look the exact same in a pic is in practice or a crash. We're coming back full circle to being skiers on bikes again. For taller, bigger riders, the weight added...

If it rains before or during the DH World Champs this year, it's inevitable that Danny Hart's epic 2011 Championship will come to mind for many. He was just a couple of weeks shy of his 20th birthday when he won by almost 12 seconds. What makes his performance all the more memorable was the unbridled announcing by Nigel Page and Rob Warner as they nearly lost their minds calling his run. And so, here you go:

The rules for DH are almost as simple as saying that whoever rides a bike from the top to the bottom fastest while staying in the track limits wins, and I love it. Any type of hyper specific equipment rules like those in road racing or ski racing just limits the innovation that's required to be the fastest. If somebody wants to wear ankle weights or put oobleck in their tires because they think it's better, then they should let them. Let the fastest rider win. Shake weight in the steerer tube? Sure. Hamster bottle for the rear brake? Have...

Just started putting together a new prototype DH Dual front suspension system called the Smithage....as we can see,a set of Fox 40 forks which will be shortened to 160mm travel and a secondary linkage Girder type suspension system ( 55mm travel ) which will bolt onto a DH bike frame in place of the forks.....next is to bolt it onto said bike...stay tuned.

Welp, you can probably tell by my clickbait thumbnail alone, but I'm not a fan of the Podium thus far. TL;DR (or TL;DW), its different, but its not better. I also have durability issues that have occurred on two different Podiums and the performance is meh. Not bad, but certainly not worth the money. Also, I think now is a good time for me to eat crow and go "yeah, I think the media guys did get something a little different".

Bikes with electronic derailleurs do not make any philosophical sense. I’d rather ride an e-bike. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Finally! A proper electronic DH rear derailleur. I've been wondering when we'd be able to pay $1500 to ruin three derailleurs on the same rock in one race weekend. Can't come fast enough.

Ensuring that people don't accidentally trip the start or stop before the finish is critical. Providing a setup or best practice once that aspect is somewhat understood will be important. It may require some minimum GPS hardware spec and config as Jeff has been alluding to. App aside the GPS may be the cost of entry to get reliable results.

In regards to flying starts vs standing starts, maybe you could do kind of an arming feature where you position yourself on the start, press a "ready" button and then the clock starts when you start moving. Again could be challenging with GPS jitter but removes the very annoying case where you accidentally rest inside the Strava segment before starting and ruin your time.
